Live Action and Lila Rose, Stand Up For Religious Freedom

For Immediate Release:

March 21st, 2012 —  Live Action will join concerned Americans across the nation on Friday March 23rd, 2012 to voice opposition to the Health and Human Services mandate under the Obama Administration. People in over 100 cities and towns across America will stand up against the HHS mandate on Friday, which is working to force religious institutions to offer contraception, sterilizations, and abortion-inducing drugs to their employees and students.

The Rally for Religious Freedom will take place on Friday, March 23 from Noon to 1 p.m., in front of the HHS Building, 200 Independence Ave. SW, Washington DC. Live Action President Lila Rose will address the rally.

Live Action President Rose says, “On Friday, Americans all across the nation are standing up against an unjust attack on religious liberty, on pro-life Americans, and on the most vulnerable Americans – our unborn children. This is not only an attack on people of faith and conscience, this is an assault on every American’s freedom. Our government has already failed to protect the right to life of its most vulnerable citizens – the unborn. Now they are stripping away the freedom of born citizens, and forcing our companies to purchase insurance coverage of abortifacient drugs that kill.”

She continues, “The Obama administration is joined by a vicious abortion lobby- especially abortion giant Planned Parenthood- in this unjust attempt to force abortifacients, contraception, and sterilization coverage on all of us. This war against liberty and life must end. This mandate is an outrage and we will not comply.”

Lila Rose Statement on Komen/Planned Parenthood Funding Controversy

Lila Rose
Live Action President Lila Rose

“In the wake of the efforts by Komen to ensure grant money goes only to affiliates that actually perform mammograms (Planned Parenthood does not), the last few days have revealed the ugly extent that abortion giant Planned Parenthood and their allies will go to exert control over anyone who threatens their funding and image.

We continue to urge Komen to remain steadfast and stop funding Planned Parenthood, as they are the largest abortion provider in the US, under both federal and state investigation, provides no mammography services at any of their clinics, and have been documented covering up child sexual abuse and sex trafficking. The Susan G. Komen Foundation is the most  influential breast cancer foundation in America and should distance themselves from an organization that cares more about abortion than women’s health and well-being.”

Komen Reverses Decision To Defund Planned Parenthood

I was listening to a talk radio show based here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area this morning. Mark Davis, a North Texas radio staple since the early 90s, was discussing Susan G. Komen’s decision to defund Planned Parenthood. I was trying to call in because no one was mentioning the abortion-breast cancer link, when I got a text telling me Komen had reversed their decision.

Here is some of Komen’s official statement:

We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women’s lives.

The events of this week have been deeply unsettling for our supporters, partners and friends and all of us at Susan G. Komen.  We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood.  They were not.

Our original desire was to fulfill our fiduciary duty to our donors by not funding grant applications made by organizations under investigation.  We will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political. That is what is right and fair.

“Or is it what is gutless?” asked Mark Davis on the air this morning.

I had planned on saying two things if I managed to get on the air. The first thing: yes, it’s great that Komen defunded Planned Parenthood, but not great that it took a Congressional investigation to make them do it. It makes it seem like they are fleeing from controversy, when what they should be doing is taking a strong stand for women’s health. Planned Parenthood encourages women to make irresponsible, physically damaging decisions, and makes money off those decisions by offering to suck the decisions out of them and dispose them as medical waste. In the process, they mislead women about the fact that their decision is now a living human being.

Pray for Today’s Holy Innocent

Today, millions of Catholics recognize the Massacre of the Holy Innocents. This recounts the episode when King Herod ordered the execution of all young male children in the village of Bethlehem ages two and younger, to avoid the loss of his throne to a newborn King of the Jews whose birth has been announced to Herod by the Magi. The infants, known in the Church as the Holy Innocents, have been claimed as the first Christian Martyrs. Today, the innocent are still being killed through the violence of abortion and on this day we are reminded to pray for them.

Below is a graphic that I created to remind us about the lives being lost today. Please feel free to share it.

Lila Rose: Looking Back on 2011

Live Action president Lila Rose shares her thoughts about the past year of the pro-life movement. Live Action’s undercover videos released in February, showing Planned Parenthood aiding and abetting the trafficking of young girls, sparked national outcry and led to the first congressional vote on defunding the abortion business. In 2011, 61 million tax dollars were stripped from the organization.

Christian Bale Attacked While Trying To Visit Chinese Pro-Life Advocate

LifeNews.com reported Friday that Batman star Christian Bale, while attempting to visit embattled Chinese activist Chen Guangcheng, was physically attacked by guards and turned away from his village.

Bale had traveled nine hours from a film premiere in Beijing to visit Guangcheng, a blind lawyer who has vocally opposed China’s one-child policy and worked for years to expose forced abortions and sterilization of Chinese women. Several weeks ago, rumors of Guangcheng’s death surfaced, and only very recently was he sighted alive.

Guangcheng spent four years in prison, where he was reportedly starved, tortured, and denied medical care. He is now under house arrest in the small village where Bale attempted to visit him.
