Check Out These Pro-Life Songs
|
Sometimes, pro-life songs (or other media, for that matter) are few and far between. But the ones that do exist are quite powerful. Several musicians have come up with unique ways to present the pro-life message. A song can often do what mere words cannot. Below I share some of my favorites as well as some new songs I have recently been introduced to. I don’t share them all here, but I was shocked at the number of songs about men who wish their girlfriends hadn’t aborted their child.
Let’s all be encouraged to use our particular talent–whatever it is–to spread the message far and wide!
Just Another Birthday—Casting Crowns
Can I Live?–Nick Cannon Lyrics YouTube
This song is actually autobiographical. Nick Cannon talks a bit about what his mom went through in her decision to keep him. He thanks her for listening to him as a baby in the womb.
Personhood–Tony Funderburk Listen Here
One of my personal favorites! Make sure you un-mute the volume when you go to this site.
The Call—Matt Kennon YouTube
An absolutely AMAZING song about how people are encouraged to choose life when we choose to be there for them. One little action can make all the difference in the world.
Tears Fall—Barlow Girl
There Goes My Life—Kenny Chesney Lyrics YouTube
This is probably the oldest song I put on here…I was trying to find more modern ones. But “There Goes My Life” is one of the best testimonies EVER of how an unplanned and unexpected child often becomes the very center of his or her parents’ hearts. I LOVE this song!
Broken People—KJ-52 Lyrics YouTube
Here’s one for all you rap fans out there!
feeling lost confused and a little damaged
she knew his life was the thing that matters
so he grows kind of like a seed that’s planted
it was hard but she always managed
even when the problems never seem to vanish
she looks at his fingers and the little hand prints
she might be broken but shes gonna manage
Con Una Estrella–Ricardo Arjona YouTube
A Spanish song that talks about what an unborn child might become, if allowed to live. Arjona personalizes his song as well.
In the Morning–Anika Moa Lyrics YouTube
I’m so lucky to have a great career
But after all the fuss I just wanted to have you
All I ever wanted is to be near a face
In the morning , in the morning
After the operation my heart will become erased
And I will miss you, I will miss you
I Would Die For That–Kellie Coffey Lyrics YouTube
A touching song from the perspective of a woman who wants to have a baby, but cannot. Her friend got an abortion, and this song expresses how the woman would die to have the opportunity to give birth to a child that others would discard freely.
Life Inside You–Matthew West Lyrics YouTube
Great song about how the pro-life issue isn’t only about saving babies from abortion, but also saving lives in other ways.
Lime Tree–Bright Eyes Lyrics YouTube
One of the MANY songs I found about a guy whose girlfriend or wife chooses an abortion without him having any say at all. So sad.
I keep floating down the river but the ocean never comes
And since the operation I heard you’re breathing just for one
Now everything’s imaginary, especially what you love
You left another message said it’s done,
It’s done
Red Ragtop–Tim McGraw Lyrics YouTube
The one thing I don’t like about this song is that, while it makes it obvious that an abortion has lasting effects, it also makes it seem like you just have to choose to forget about it. One lady commented on the song and said,
A very big decision was made 30 years ago and it’s natural for it to still be on our minds….I’ve realized I still love you and I wish I could give you what was yours and ours. Thanks Tim McGraw for touching on a very deep subject so many people have had to deal with that is such an emotional one. God will forgive the sins but we must try and find peace while dealing with the aftermath.
Sometimes Miracles Hide–Bruce Carroll Lyrics YouTube
A touching song about parents who choose to keep their “less than perfect” baby, despite the doctor’s advice. You should definitely go listen to this one!
That’s Love–Ricochet YouTube
A little known country song. I love the line that says, “Her baby might not have a daddy, but at least he would be living.”
To Zion–Lauryn Hill Lyrics YouTube
Woe this crazy circumstance
I knew his life deserved a chance
But everybody told me to be smart
Look at your career they said,
“Lauryn, baby use your head”
But instead I chose to use my heart
Lucy–Skillet Lyrics
Matt Kennon–The Call
