Lila Rose Statement on House Defunding of Planned Parenthood

Lila Rose

Lila Rose, Live Action President

We applaud those in Congress who championed the safety of women, young girls and children today, and refused to funnel hundreds of millions of tax dollars into an organization that furthers the trafficking of minors and enables sexual abusers. We now turn our attention to the Senate. Now they must examine the facts and move to pull the plug on subsidizing Planned Parenthood’s exploitation of the most vulnerable among us. The case to cease funding is crystal clear. But for any Senator who remains unsure, imagine explaining to your constituents that you voted to keep sending $350 million of their tax dollars to an ‘non-profit’ that puts young girls in harm’s way and made $63 million in profits by aborting 300,000 unborn children last year. It’s time once and for all to stop financing these activities.

  • BeautifulMother

When I read testimony of this monumental victory of LOVE, Love's Victory, God's Victory, and the Victory of Loving Truth, and living Love, Love for women and children and other living things, I could not help but to cry! As a child, my own great grandmother, grandmother and mother, "believed' in a woman's right to chose to abort their babies. They thought it was "a woman's right." In fact, my own mother supported the cause of the "National Abortion Rights Action League" with a donation ever month! Today, my Mother, by the grace of God, is 100% pro-life! My dear grandmother at the end of her life was 100% pro-life. Even my Great-grandmother, who Marched in the woman's sufferage movement, at the end of her life became Pro-Life. They all realized that the Pro-aborts had gone too far. What was first 'sold" as promoted as "a woman's right" became a huge, huge, wrong.

  • BeautifulMother

The Government program, "WIC" (Women Infant Children) provides prenatal nutritional guidance and nutritious food supplimental assistance for pregnant and nursing mothers, and, to mothers of young children. Why? Because the someone was an advocate for good nutrition for Mothers of young children in the womb, and post birth. Abortion is not healthy for women, infants and children, born or unborn.

    • alexa_bear

In some cases abortion is the ONLY option for women who would lose their lives if forced to go through with a pregnancy due to medical complications. Republicans are hoping to pass bills that would allow hospitals to refuse to give these women abortions and instead let them die in their own hospitals.

Planned Parenthood provides life-saving cancer screenings to women of all ages, including post-menopausal women. Where are they going to go without PP? You're sacrificing the lives of many to save the lives of very, very, very few. Less than 3% of PP's services involve abortion. They prevent and avert nearly 3x as many pregnancies as they abort, including referring almost as many women to adoption agencies as they perform abortions.

Please end this war on women.

      • livewell8

If Planned Parenthood prevents so many abortions, why are abortions lowest where Planned Parenthood isn't and highest where Planned Parenthood is? Explain that.

        • alexa_bear

First of all please let me know where you got that info.

Second of all, it makes perfect sense that there are fewer abortions where there are no Planned Parenthoods, because there are no nonjudgmental, safe facilities available for women where there are no PP. Women travel long distances to go to PP's to get abortions. I have to remind you that abortion is completely legal in this country and that PP does NOT use federal funds for abortion. By punishing Planned Parenthood for providing a completely legal service, you are effectively endangering the lives of over 2 million women of all ages (including parents, including post-menopausal women) who rely on PP for cancer screening, contraception, STD treatment, etc.

        • alexa_bear

Livewell8: Please just read this article and then let me know what you think about the issue.
          http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/26/opinion/26sat1….

      • farmchick20

I don't call 4,000 innocent human beings per day a "very, very, few." Especially given that nearly all of the mothers of those children are NOT risking their lives by continuing the pregnancy.

There are plenty of other places that women can go to receive non-abortion health care. The Health Department for one. You have to remember, PP does charge for their services. So women aren't going to suddenly not be able to afford cancer screenings because PP got defunded.

We are not warring against women, or abortionists, or poor people. We fight against the idea that an unwanted, helpless child can be sacrificed.

        • alexa_bear

          What is "the health department"????!??!

PP charges based on a sliding scale which means that they look at your income and see what is affordable for you personally. If you're below the poverty line, their services are free. So no, you are completely and utterly wrong that women will suddenly not be able to afford cancer screenings because PP gets defunded. PP exists to help low income women and there is no national organization in place to replace them. "the health department" is not a real place, this is something out of your imagination.

          • Paisleyplaidco

You seriously do not know what a “health department,” is?
Sadly, you are the exact target of Planned Parenthood. Naive and uninformed. Unfortunately, there are 4,000 plus just like you that visit PP daily. I used to believe the same way you do. Then when I started to check facts for myself, it seemed to be the exact opposite of what mainstream media was reporting. Empower yourself alexa_bear by learning the facts. It’s hard to argue facts.

  • KathleenEaton

Lila…. I am so proud to know you! It is because of your amazing work and your unstoppable drive to stop the Planned Parenthood machine that has put PP on their knees. It is through your work in exposing Planned Parenthood that brought about the vote in the House today! May this be the first step to change the culture of death that seems to permeate the halls of Congress and usher in a culture of life. God bless you for your fervor, commitment and dedication to this cause. May your blessings be abundant and I pray for you as you continue on with your mission to expose the true mission of Planned Parenthood. I will do all I can to bring Birth Choice Health Clinics into areas where Planned Parenthoods are defunded (and closed because of you!) to provide sexual health medical services and support from a faith-based, pro-life stand. God bless you my dear friend! Kathleen

    • BeautifulMother

"Birth Choice Health Clinics" –How sweet!

    • alexa_bear

I'm so glad to hear that you plan to bring sexual health medical services to areas where PP's are defunded. I would really love to see someone provide a practical and realistic plan for doing this. PP receives hundreds of millions of dollars of federal funding that go toward health services (not abortion). You are going to need an extraordinarily large amount of money — at least equal to what PP receives — in order to make up for all the medical services people will be losing. Where are you planning on getting that money? Where will you get the manpower? What's the plan here? This is happening fast, and there is no plan in place to take over for the care of more than 2 million women who rely on Planned Parenthood for non-abortion related services. (In fact, less than 3% of their services are abortion related. You want to destroy 97% of their services just to punish them for that 3%).

Please end this war on women.

      • livewell8

If Planned Parenthood believed in the 97% that they do, they would stop doing abortions and help more women but abortion is too important to them. The funds should go to other health care providers who actually do mammograms and can deal with basic things like high blood pressure that PP has no idea what to do about.

        • alexa_bear

What other health providers? In rural remote areas? What about the women who require abortions to save their lives? What about the legal constitutional right that women have to get abortions if they want one? If you want to lobby to outlaw abortion, fine, but don't shut down organizations who don't even use federal funds to fund abortions. This is an unrelated issue and you are punishing planned parenthood for something you have absolutely no control over because your money is not paying for it. It's unconstitutional .

        • alexa_bear

"If PP believed in the 97% that they do"… that makes no sense at all. Why should PP have to compromise? They aren't spending your money. They shouldn't have to compromise at all. This is not a matter to be compromised on. Abortion is legal in America. If you don't like it, why don't you move to a country where abortion is illegal?

          • farmchick20

Actually, PP IS spending our money. They are tax-payer funded. Don't you agree that as taxpayers and citizens of this country, we have a right to speak out about what we want to pay for?

  • BeautifulMother

The "Cause" of "The Only Choice" of "Abortion" for underage girls is not a good one to support. Even free or low cost access to "birth control" for these 13 year old little girl prostitutes sold for sex via the "helping hand" of Planned Parenthood by their "Pimps" is not doing little girls and young women, or America, or any part of humanity for that matter, a favor. There is NO excuse for "Planned Parenthood" as an organization, there is no excuse for agents of the Multi-million dollar Abortion Industry to disregard helping young girls as young as the age of 13 years of age, or younger, allegedly held bondage into an interntational sex trade prostitution ring find freedom. Planned Parenthood if they cared about young women and girls, should have been in the business to HELP girls find freedom from their sex-slavery, thus giving these young victims a fighting chance, or real "choice." Instead, what did Planned Parenthood do? They aided and abetted the young girls continued slaver, bondage, and 'not choice."

    • alexa_bear

What do you think of as "real choice"? It sounds to me like you are against access to birth control and against access to abortions. This seems to me like no choice at all for women. Real choice means giving women the choice to have sex without having a baby if they want to. Please end this war on women.

      • farmchick20

Why should women have a choice of having sex without having a baby? I have yet to find a justifiable answer to that question.

        • alexa_bear

One in 6 women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetimes. That's 25 million women in America. Is that enough of an answer for you? Should women be forced to bear the babies of their rapists?

          • farmchick20

Should a child die for the sins of its father?
What if the raped woman gives birth to the baby, and when it's two years old, it starts looking like the man who raped her? Now she's having flashbacks and nightmares, to the point that she can't look at her child. Can she kill it then?

        • alexa_bear

Also I'm appalled that you say "women" shouldn't have the choice to have sex w/o having a baby. What about MEN? Should men not have the choice either? Shouldn't men be LEGALLY FORCED to stay at home and feed, bathe and care for whatever offspring they produce by having sex with women?

          • farmchick20

I said women because we're talking about abortion, in which debate, pro-choicers are always talking about the women.
I never said the women should be forced to stay at home and care for their children. If a woman truly cannot care for her child or doesn't want it, there are many couples looking to adopt.
But if you're asking for my personal opinion, yes, I think men have just as much responsibility to their children as women, albeit their roles in the child's life are different.

  • BeautifulMother

Who, even amongst the "most liberal of democrats" are "FOR THE CAUSE" of aiding and abetting child abusers? Who, even amongst "the most liberal of liberal democrates" in the U.S. Senate, are not for the defunding of Planned Parenthood? And if there be some amongst those in the U.S. Senate who will vote to Keep Planned Parenthood's funding from NOT BEING TERMINATED, then, we must ask, "Why." Planned Parenthood, is obviously, not about "CHOICE!" "Planned Parenthood" isn't about "Parenthood" at all!

  • GOPIn2012

Lila, I've been following this story since O'Reilly Factor began airing it and instantly began hoping against hope that you guys would be able to put an end to Planned Parenthood's abortion clinics. Absolutely wonderful to see that our GOP-led House has voted to defund it and obviously, let us hope that the Senate takes their cue to follow along. You have been an inspiration to a lot of people and I'm glad that all of us who are young conservatives don't get discounted because of age or inexperience. Good luck, we're all rooting for you!

    • alexa_bear

Lila, women are going to die thanks to your efforts. This is a travesty. Please end this war on women and children.

      • farmchick20

Why should women die? They can certainly get healthcare other places. Heck, they can even get abortions from other places! Defunding PP is not the same as outlawing abortion (unfortunately).
I noticed that you added "and children" to your usual little "war on women" slogan. Exactly how is defending the lives of the unborn warring against children??

        • alexa_bear

I wish that was true! Sadly it's not. PP's whole mission is to provide services in areas where there are no services. The reason they exist where they do is that no other affordable services exist in those places. It's true that women can get abortions in other places — like back alleys, sketchy doctors' offices, unaffordable clinics, and clinics where they will be harassed and abused for their decision.

Defending the lives of the unborn in the way that you're doing — by trying to de-fund planned parenthood — is a war on children because you're barring medical access to low-income female children throughout the country. You're also barring medical access to low income children's mothers throughout the country, meaning that millions of mothers are not going to be able to afford to get screened for cervical cancer, which means that they will not catch the cancer early enough, which means that they will likely die. Millions of PP's clients are women, who go there because they can't afford to go anywhere else.

I have absolutely no problem with you wanting to defend the unborn. However, defunding planned parenthood is NOT the way to do this. I wish that my fellow pro-lifers would see the enormous damage that they are doing to the health of women and children.

          • livewell8

If that is true then why did they say a STD test would be $160 and that their patient should just go donate blood instead? http://liveaction.org/blog/planned-parenthood-adv

          • alexa_bear

First off you can't generalize about an organization based on a single incident. In that case I could call all pro-lifers murderers because one of them killed Dr Tiller.

Secondly, they charge on a sliding scale, based on your income. No one said they provide free services, just affordable ones.

Finally, I literally went and donated blood this morning. I donate blood every 2 months, and each time saves 3-6 lives! When was the last time you donated blood? This is something you should be lobbying your peers for. There are a lot of ways to save lives that don't infringe on my constitutional rights.

          • farmchick20

Really? An ad hominem attack? I'm disappointed; I thought you were better than that.

It's not a constitutional right to kill a child, unborn or otherwise.

          • farmchick20

Then how would you have us go about defending the rights of the unborn? I would like to hear your solutions.
Defunding Planned Parenthood is not the only way pro-lifers are fighting for the helpless. There are many groups that go on college campus' and talk to people, showing them the humanity of the unborn and answering their questions. Crisis pregnancy centers, funded by pro-lifers, are popping up all over.
Many pro-lifers peacefully stand outside clinics, offering information and help, should a woman decide not to abort. I know that there are people who are not doing this in a peaceful and compassionate way, but thankfully, these are now the minority. And sometimes, we just quietly pray.

Lila Rose and your Victorious Team…every awakened and feeling individual in these United States and those yet to be awakened, are breathing easier and thinking and feeling lighter by Gods Grace and your combined efforts, that is electron by electron of light, enlightenment and energy ,lifting the pall of death over this land that assists the Organizations like Planned Parenthood to keep parroting their statements of halftruth. Every angel above is walking with everyone in embodiment to end their planned facts, planned questions, planned answers, and planned halftruths that result in the living products of conception becoming dead and dying babies, dreams, ideas, hopes, vision , and even suicide and more abortions. The Holy Innocent children whose mistake cause them to seek the promise of Parenting and love ,find “help” for their fears and doubts that result in words of betrayal “to make informed decisions” ending in actions of horror, pain, and practitioners who strip the womb of life and the body temple leaving anguish, self criticism, condemnation and judgement as the cash is collected and the victim is further “helped” with words of comfort “its all right”, “you made the right choice for everybody concerned” “you are too young” “its not a baby” “noone will ever know” “honey its all right its legal” “you will be all right in a few days my dear” ” theres nothing to it..trust me” ” it only takes a few minutes and its all over” ” you dont want a baby to take care of at your age..do you” “now you just take these pain pills and go home ..in a few hours this will be behind you dear”! Thank you and your Team for uncovering and exposing the halftruths and lies that are hard to handle that life, love , true freedom, joy, liberty , honor, harmony,br balance and Victory prevail because of the selflessness, sacrifice and service you give to all people . The forgiving of your love to all , brings the “snowball effect” and return current of forgetting ..only love..Love is the key!bee

    • BeautifulMother

Young girls seeking "to make informed decisions," seeking to, "be responsible," seeking to "be grown up," seeking "to be good," seeking "free will choice,"believing the lie of abortion" being, "a woman's right," thinking "liberty," are made victims by the LIE! The truth is, It is a baby!

      • alexa_bear

Pro-choice people also believe it is a baby. Pro-choice people believe that abortion is killing a life. But pro-choice people understand that the way to PREVENT abortion, is to SUPPORT planned parenthood. PP prevents more than 3 times as many abortions as it performs through contraception and adoption services. If you want to lower abortion rates, the single best thing you can do is support Planned Parenthood.

        • farmchick20

Not all pro-choice people believe it is a baby. In fact, Planned Parenthood promotes the thinking that it ISN'T a baby (see The Rosa Acuna Project on this website.)
The only true way to prevent abortion is for everyone who doesn't want a baby to practice abstinence. Contraception may fail. When someone makes the choice to have sex, they've accepted the possible consequence of a child.

          • alexa_bear

12,000 women are raped in the United States EVERY DAY.

That's over 4 million women raped every year.

Unfortunately it's impossible for every woman in today's society to practice abstinence, because one in three will be raped against their will.

Also, a large percentage of women who abort at PP are already mothers, and they are married. Are you saying you think that married women should simply stop having sex for the rest of their fertile lives after they have as many children as they can afford? This seems like a truly sad way to live, for both men and women.

          • farmchick20

Rape is a horrible crime, probably the worst one known to mankind. That being said, abortion doesn't make the rape disappear. It kills the innocent child of a guilty father. Did you know that only 1% of rapes end in a pregnancy?

No, I don't believe that married people should stop having sex if they don't want a child.
Look, I'm not here to argue for abstinence to prevent conception. That's not what's most important to me. If it would save EVERY CHILD from being aborted, I would be fine with most forms of contraception. I personally think that abstinence is the best way for unwed people to avoid having a child, but my main concern is that children are being killed unjustifiably every day.
People should not have the choice to kill their child. That's what it boils down to for me.

        • Len

I am pro-choice and I don’t consider it a baby until it can live and sustain without being dependent of the mom.

          • farmchick20

A one year old is pretty dependent on its mother. It can't get food on its own, remove its own waste or protect itself, much like a fetus. Should we be able to kill one year olds?

          • Paisleyplaidco

            It is true….ignorance is bliss.

        • Paisleyplaidco

wow, you really need to research before posting…PP is not exclusive in the services they provide. Local Health Depts provide the same service. The main difference is that your local health dept or medical provider doesn’t stand to gain financially by your abortion. PP has lied to the public for too long and continues to do so. They are not about empowerment of women or for that matter the health of the woman. While abortion rates have dropped nationally in the last ten years, Planned Parenthood’s abortion rate has more than doubled! And while you verify that information also check out and compare the studies that show what cancers and a whole host of other secondary health issues aboortion open a woman up to….and by the way, you won’t find a thing about it on any Planned Parenthood site….because they are SOOO concerned with the publics health they want to make sure we’re informed, right?

    • BeautifulMother

In acts of extreme cruelity, in disregard for the heart and soul and spirit of these little girls (ages 13, 14), great tradegy ensues. Not to mention the disregard for the little girls in the womb!

    • BeautifulMother

A heart that once was beating in the Great Rhythm Life, is stopped to the hurt and loss of all! Great harm is done. Life is not made better for it. The karmic weight is great. Abortion does not erase the fact of the miracle of human life that begins at conception! Babies are the blessing. Babies are the blessing, and not the curse upon us! Babies are good! Babies are beautiful! And, babies are so very, very sweet! What a great gift is the gift of life! "A little baby shall lead them!" I mean, "child!" Babies are so sweet and adorable when they are alive! Babies are so very, very sweet and so full of life! Babies are a Joy to behold! (Especially in the arms of their Mom!) "Mother and child united in Love! Alive! Not killed.

    • BeautifulMother

Against the very grain of truth the girls are fooled. Against the very heart beat of Life! Life begetting Life! The building of "The Temple," The temple made with out hands," the buidling of the temple of the Most High God," the body of the LORD, in the womb is torn apart. Life is not made better for this. (Girls are not "helped.")

    • BeautifulMother

"We can't put it back" is what I was told. I was told this by the lady abortinist at Women Feminst Center of "Planned Parenthood" when I cried, LIFE!

    • BeautifulMother

It wasn't "just a blob" of tissue, it wasn't just a "missed period" a beating heart was just destroyed. The offspring of the Most High God desecrated, destroyed! Harmed beyond words!

    • BeautifulMother

It was my baby that was inside! Why did I believe "Planned Parenthood's" LIE?!

    • BeautifulMother

We hear tale that other little girls are "helped" by "Planned Parenthood" by the delivery of more untruths.. (Or, as Price writes, "helped" by "half truths.") (Untruths!) The fact is, Abortion is an UNCHOICE! It's not, 'choice!" There is a baby was are talking about inside, precious human life, not a 'choice!" A rare gift from the Hand of Almighty God. A Rare gift of Life! The Miracle of Human Life! Conception begins not at the birth of human life, but rather, at the Conception of human Life! Life begets Life! Love begets Love!

      • alexa_bear

Life doesn't begin at conception. Life is continuous. Women are born with all the eggs they will ever use already in their bodies. Each menstrual cycle that they're not pregnant is like an abortion. In fact, when you get an abortion, you cramp and bleed for days just like a period. It's exactly the same. Menstruation is abortion. BAN TAMPONS! BAN PADS! Save the unborn!

        • farmchick20

          I really hope you're joking…or 10 years old….
Menstruation is most certainly NOT abortion. Menstruation does not kill a human being. An unfertilized egg does not have all the information required to create a human being.
A human blastocyst is a self-contained, functioning organism. An egg is not.
The life of an individual human begins at conception.

As an aside, menstruation is a natural, necessary process, not a man-made invasion of the body's function. And banning tampons & pads wouldn't stop menstruation from happening. o.0

        • livewell8

Are you delusional? No body believes menstruation = an abortion.

          • alexa_bear

How can you so "nobody believes" this if I just told you I believe it? I believe life is continuous and that every child I have has always existed at a spiritual level. That's no less valid a belief than yours, that says life has an arbitrary starting point at conception, or when the fetus becomes viable, or whenever it is you think it begins. You can't dictate policy based on what you personally believe, when it affects other people, too. You have to deal with the reality of the world, and make laws based on reality, not on moral beliefs, which are completely arbitrary. The reality is that women are always going to try to have abortions, and organizations like Planned Parenthood saves their lives, as well as educating them and providing them with tools to PREVENT pregnancy and prevent abortion.

          • farmchick20

Okay, you're welcome to believe whatever you want about your eggs. But it is a medical fact that an unfertilized egg discarded through menstruation is not, and never will be, a human being.
I am dealing with the reality of the world. I asked my pro-choice aunt, who just got out of medical school, to explain the early development to me. She said that her textbook taught that a blastocyst is self-regulating at 7 days at the latest, possibly as early as 4 days.

It is a MEDICAL FACT that by the time it's implanted in the womb, the blastocyst is a live, individual organism. Most abortions occur after this point.

I personally believe that life begins at conception, but I can't access the pages I usually use for reference, so I'm not asking you to believe that.

As I said before, the blastocyst is self-contained, functioning, and a complete, though undeveloped, human.
Do you believe that the less-developed among us are not entitled to life?

    • BeautifulMother

Young girls as young as 12 or 13 years of age seeking guidance from "Professionals" end up finding "Planned Parenthood," through their schools. These young girls wanting to "be responsible" seek help. Their trust in "grown ups," result in (Planned Parenthoods) betrayal. (More Liberty Taken with Price's words.. Thanks, Price! (Not that you had any choice about it!) (SMILE!)

      • farmchick20

You do realize that Benny Price is on the pro-life side, right?

  • BeautifulMother

"The Holy Innocent children… seeking to do right in Parenting and in love and in life, seek and find "help." But, the "help" they find from "Planned Parenthood" is a pack of lies. (See: http://www.liveaction.org) The "help" from "the kind women" at Planned Parenthood advising the Pimp how he can keep "working" his underage girls, after they have just had an abortion, is no help at all! Seeking help from Authority figures, young girls are duped. The young girls seeking truth, seeking help and seeking guidance are duped. No federal funding for Planned Parenthood! It's too corrupt!
