Nancy Pelosi Only Sees the Women Who Agree With Her
|
“I firmly believe — I want to remove all doubt in anyone’s mind where I am on this subject…”
– Nancy Pelosi
Pelosi has said enough. Her position on the HHS mandate is quite, quite clear.
Nancy Pelosi is an absolute supporter of absolute coverage of contraception by absolutely all insurance companies, regardless of religious beliefs. In doing so, she defies Constitutional religious liberties, the tenets of the Catholic Church, and even the beliefs of her family.
“My mother has differing views, but she taught me that we all have a free will, and that is a gift of God. My hope is that another gift of God, science, will take us even farther from this discussion, which really shouldn’t be a public policy issue.”
You need a lot of nerve to throw God’s gifts back in His face like that. Or a lot of foolhardy hubris. Pray for her.
To justify the mandate, Pelosi cites an unreliable statistic that over 98% of Catholic women use birth control – the real number is nearer to 68%.
Nevertheless, whether 0.1% or 99.9% of Catholic women use birth control, the Catholic Church’s teaching is that contraception is wrong. And while the Catholic Church teaches contraception is wrong, there will be at least one person on the face of the earth who holds this to be true. And while there is a single person on Earth who holds contraception immoral, it is deathly shame that someone is forced to fund a practice he or she considers wrong.
Nancy Pelosi also disparaged the hearing held concerning the HHS contraception mandate, saying it’s “curiouser” that the panel consisted entirely of men, debating about a “women’s” issue.
“Rep. Pelosi is either ill informed or arrogantly dismissive of women who don’t share her views. Today’s hearing does in fact include two women, Dr. Allison Garrett of Oklahoma Christian University and Dr. Laura Champion of Calvin College Health Services,” responds Becca Watkins, spokeswoman for Issa.
“Yes,” declares Pelosi:
“I think it’s really curiouser and curiouser that as we get further into this debate, the Republican leadership of this Congress thinks it’s appropriate to have a hearing on a subject of women’s health and purposely exclude women from the panel. What else do you need to know about the subject?”
Pelosi argues the hearing was humbug since she falsely claimed that no women testified. The record shows at stated above that two women did testify but sadly it appears as if the only women visable to Pelosi are ones that agree with her.
