The Susan G. Komen/Planned Parenthood Connection

New figures from 2010 show 18 Komen for the Cure affiliates giving over a half million dollars to the abortion giant Planned Parenthood. While this number is down from 2009 – when a whopping $731,303 was donated to fund abortions – it is still an extraordinarily large sum of money and shows a clear connection between the two organizations.

The real question is: why would an organization so dedicated to stopping breast cancer continue to pour money into Planned Parenthood: a group that profits off of pushing abortions and contraceptives (both proven to be directly linked BACK to breast cancer). Doesn’t seem to make much sense…

LifeNews reports:

“Komen’s support of Planned Parenthood is defeating its own mission of fighting breast cancer,” Rita Diller, the director of ALL’s STOP Planned Parenthood International program, told LifeNews.com in exclusive comments. Diller added that Planned Parenthood — beyond the issue of abortion — is not the best place for Komen to send hundreds of thousands of dollars of donations if it truly wants to help women prevent or combat breast cancer.

This shows for sure that we need to be very very careful when we give money to anybody.  Do your homework and know where your charity money goes.  When I found out that the Chicago United Way was supportion PP I cut off my payrole donation with quite a bit of pressure from my bosses because that would make our company look bad.  I said that killing babies was worse.
I would hope that more folks doing this to United Way and other charities might make them look at what is being supported.

Thank you for making us aware of this.

What’s crazy in my mind is that there is a clear link between abortion and breast cancer, so why would a breast cancer awareness organization support the largest provider of abortion in the country?  That’s like the American Cancer Society donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to Phillip Morris!  CRAZY!

  • Guessing

You guys need to post your sources, your credibility is damged by not doing so and you are not giving the rest of us nothing but talking points when we talk with our freinds, and others… damn it, which report? which 18 affiliates?

I went to the grocery store the other day and there were ladies there asking for donations and
giving out pink ribbons.  I asked if Susan G. Komen was giving money for abortions and they
emphatically said “no”.  The facts say otherwise………don’t believe what people say to you,
    check it out!!

And donations to Komen are available all over the place: they are raking in big bucks.  No cure for breast cancer yet.

because there is no clear link.

Can we believe this statement from Komen: http://ww5.komen.org/uploadedFiles/Content_Binaries/PlannedParenthoodLetter62011.pdf What are your thoughts?

What has the Komen for the Cure accomplished? Their CEO says “We don’t know what causes breast cancer, and we don’t know how to prevent it.” How can people swallow such nonsense? Estrogenic chemicals are well known to cause breast cancer, but Komen does no work to prevent our exposure to them. The estrogen in birth control pills is one source-yet they give money to PP. We needs new pink t-shirts-“for the prevention!”

There is no direct link between abortion and breast cancer. Even the Komen website says that.

i would have never given to Komen if i knew they had any funding going to planned parenthood.i will never give any money again unless planned parenthood would be dropped.

  • Jane

Well, There is NO scientifically proven link between breast cancer and abortions, so WHY are people talking as if there was? You don’t need this as an argument when there are enough reasons to discourage abortion.  Running off at the mouth with “facts” that are unfounded claims makes everyone who is pro-life look like lunatics.  This is not good!

  • Cowgirlssurvive

ive been helped by planned parent hood the helped off set the cost of my yearly exam, which is the early detection of breast cancer and help ofset the cost of my birth control, people need to see the whole picture of the company and the funding and stop overreacting to just the worst in companys

  • F-dean

The money goes to breast cancer screenings which is a planned parenthood lollypop to get access to voters like a child molester with some candy.  It is like terroist running a free health clinic.  Oh your need hurt that is to bad do you know we can help fund your abortions.

  • Judy

My daughter died of breast cancer and my family supports the Komen Foundation to fight that specific horrible disease. Planned Parenthood may be a worthwhile organization but it is not the battle we are in when we donate for breast cancer research.
