I love the pseudo-gorilla journalism thing, so much so that I appreciate the story regardless of the derisive point. The question that needs to be asked here: how does perpetuating a "victim of stupidity" angle help anything for anyone? Everyone makes decisions; however only a select, socially dependent segment tries to escape reality by attempting to become a martyr. If any reader has ever said something like, "officer, I didn't know that punching a priest with a spiky iron cross was a crime..." and had the responsibility for such an act rescinded, I would completely buy this argument. Unfortunately, playing the idiot card (although successful for possums) is not productive for cognitive humans. So how does acting like a moron who cant check out a book from a high school library make anyone a victim in this example? Really, consider this a constructive criticism and create a semblance of reality - I'll buy it if it can stand up on it's own...

Very powerful letter. Thank you, Lila, for all your hard work in seeking protection for those who cannot speak for themselves. Keep up the good work - I will be praying for you!
