Top Five Most Influential Pro-Life Celebrities of 2011

Ray Comfort stars in the 180 Movie

These celebrities have greatly impacted the pro-life movement, especially in 2011.

5—Ray Comfort

Living Waters released Ray Comfort’s 180 Movie in September.  In this award-winning documentary, Comfort interviews people on the streets about their knowledge of the Holocaust and compares it to the modern-day holocaust that is legalized abortion. The majority of the interviewees admit to having their views swayed to favor life after the short, pithy interviews.  The 180 Movie in which Comfort stars is quickly approaching 2,000,000 views on YouTube  and thousands of DVDs have been distributed on college campuses around the nation.  It has been endorsed by pro-life heroes such as Abby Johnson, Jill Stanek, Randy Alcorn, and Dr. Alveda King.  Ray Comfort’s 180 Movie has caused one of the most impressive waves in the pro-life movement in 2011.

4—Kathy Ireland

This year, we have seen over $60,000,000 stripped from the largest abortion provider that thrives off the onslaught of over 332,000 unborn children annually—Planned Parenthood.  Kathy Ireland, a former supermodel and now outspoken pro-life activist, voiced her support for the defunding of this deplorable organization. “To force people who don’t agree with some of the practices, I don’t believe in that. I don’t think taxpayers need to fund something as controversial as [Planned Parenthood],” she said during an interview on Fox News in May.

Although she was once in favor of abortion rights, her view changed after she did some research. “I spoke to top scientists throughout our country asking, ‘Would you please just show me some shred of evidence that the unborn is not a human being?’ and no one has been able to show me any,” she stated.  She proclaimed that she will “continue to fight for those human rights” of the unborn.

3—Eduardo Verástegui

This July, the star of the pro-life movie Bella founded a nonprofit pro-life organization in Los Angeles, California.  The Mantle of Guadalupe strives to “defend life from conception to natural death” and “serve the poor in our local communities and around the world” and it works alongside pro-life pregnancy resource centers and clinics in the area, and has been dedicated to St. Gianna, whose daughter attended the grand opening of the pro-life center.

Verástegui held a benefit called Unidos por la Vida (‘United for Life’) for the center after its opening, where Live Action president Lila Rose was a guest speaker.

2—Justin Bieber

In February, the then 16-year-old pop star Justin Bieber indicated that he was pro-life when a Rolling Stone interviewer questioned him about his stance on abortion. His simple, short response, “I really don’t believe in abortion. It’s like killing a baby,” drew the attention of pro-life and pro-abortion rights groups alike, because both sides know this teen celebrity’s fan base consists mostly of young teenage girls.  Labeled the “anti-choice Bieber Fever,” pro-abortion rights blog Feministing stated that Justin Bieber’s statement will make young women “feel ashamed for choosing to terminate their pregnancies” and pondered if he would become the new “anti-choice poster boy” of the year, simply for stating the fact that abortion does, indeed, kill a baby.

Renowed pro-life activists applauded Bieber for speaking the truth.  “We encourage all of his fans to spread the pro-life Bieber Fever,” said Lila Rose.

“Justin, I give you mad props for being willing to voice your opinion and speak the truth.  Don’t back down,” said Bryan Kemper of Stand True.

“LifeNews.com thanks Justin for his willingness to publicly proclaim that abortion destroys lives…he should be applauded,” Steven Ertelt of LifeNews stated.

I may not care much for his music, but for his bravery in speaking the truth with the simplest statement which subsequently caused commotion on both sides, Justin Bieber is absolutely deserving of being on the Top Five list.

1—Tim Tebow

The Heisman Trophy Winner and now starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos is probably my favorite pro-life celebrity of all time.  A successful, moral, good-looking professional football player that shines as a positive influence to our nation, Tim Tebow became a pro-life icon last year with his and his mother’s Super Bowl XLIV commercial that very briefly depicted hardships she endured during her pregnancy with Tebow and pressure she faced to abort him.

Pro-abortion rights advocates are well aware of Tebow’s pro-life story and convictions.  That’s why the “Abortion Gang” blog has called on pro-abortion rights counterparts: “For every touchdown Tebow throws next week (when the Broncos play against another famous QB, Tom Brady), donate $5 or $10 to your local pro-choice organization.”  This tells us two things: 1) pro-abortion rights groups are starting to realize they are lacking community support and they’re hurting financially, and 2) Tebow is incredibly influential and they are scared of that.

I say we turn this around for the benefit of life-affirming organizations: for every touchdown pass Tebow makes on December 18th, every pro-lifer watching the game donates just a few dollars to their local pregnancy resource center.  If successful, Tebow could be an ancillary in raising end-of-the-year funds for these centers that offer free financial, material, and emotional support to women facing unintended pregnancies, and this is why I deem him the number one most influential pro-life celeb of 2011.

  • Brendiakreed

I will donate to my local Pregnancy resource center for every touchdown pass Tebow makes on Dec. 18th! Awesome idea!

    • Bobby Estrada

So you dont intend to donate any money???

Planned Parenthood hates Tim Tebow because he wasn’t aborted and he is walking proof of what society would have lost if he had been.

Hey Bobby, I’m going to donate some money regardless of whether he throws a touchdown pass or not.  So go suck on that, you turd.

    • Greenriverlyle

Pro-lifers should always remain civil and itelligent, lest we cast a bad light on pro-lifers, I think Bobby was saying he does’nt like Tebow. blessings and carry on the good fight.

  • Rivkah

I am for CHOICE. I do not believe in late term abortions, but I do believe early term abortions should be available for rape, incest or if the life of the mother is in danger. Should the federal government be involved in paying for abortions? Yes. I would rather have the government pay for early term abortions, than have THOUSANDS of children in the foster care system that are unwanted or uncared for by their parents. But the states WILL NOT free them for adoption. If we are going pull money from planned parenthood the states need to revamp their foster care system to allow for the influx of babies that will flood into the system. The foster care system needs to stop being used a as a warehouse for kids.

There will be no “influx of babies” because babies given up for adoption go to adoptive homes almost immediately. That is a fact, which I have witnessed over and over again in the course of several adoptions in families I know personally. There are more than enough infertile couples seeking adoption, and others seeking to enlarge their families, to accommodate every baby who’s aborted. It is the children who are raised by terrible parents and abused and neglected for years, with behavioral problems, who are difficult to place into forever families. And guess what? Abortion (including federally funded abortion) has done NOTHING to reduce the number of children in that position, despite the tired talking point you just exploited for the billionth time.

      • Badgergirl1

Elise77 is absolutely correct.  Did you know that before Roe v. Wade, there were exactly as many babies being born every year as there were parents waiting to adopt?  Now we have to go overseas to adopt babies, and the money we might have used to adopt in the states, and help the economy is now somewhere across the ocean.  So if you think about it, abortion (besides the fact that it ends a human life), has done nothing but harm to the US.  Thank you Elise77!

    • Jledesma

I am also for CHOICE… That all people can live to exercise their Choices

      • Can_of_dice84

How are you for choice? That baby has NO CHOICE. So you are contradicting yourself. Go do some research instead of bombing Pro Life pages with your nonsense. Thank you for your time.

      • Anonymous

Yes, everyone should choose for themselves if they want to be cut up. That is why I oppose abortion.

    • Bob E.

Rivkah, even if a woman is raped, as horrible as that is, does that mean that the baby has lost the right to life?  Do you think that the value of children should be based on how they are conceived?  As far as a pregnancy being unwanted, people need to realize that he choice was made when they decided to have sex.  Anybody in their right mind knows that even contraceptives are not 100%.  The bottom line is that if you don’t want a baby then don’t have sex.  Abstaining from sex in 100% effective. Is that impractical?  Absolutely not!  Self-control is a virtue that the world could use a lot more of.  Actions have consequences and so do choices.

    • Chris

Murder is never a choice.  A human life is worth more than any monetary system could ever pay for.  It is a shame that human lives are equated with “things” to be bought and sold or in this case murdered because we just can’t deal with them.  Watch 180 The Movie and then decide if you are still for “choice”.

    • Anonymous

Why don’t you believe in late-term abortion?

    • Anna

Rickah, here are the statistics for women having abortions:
Wrong time to have a child: 25%
      Can’t afford a baby: 23%
Don’t want any more kids: 19%
Too immature to raise a child: 7%
      Maternal health concerns: 4%
      Possible fetal health problems: 3%
Was a victom of rape: <0.5%
So obviously, most women are NOT having abortions for the reasons you stated.
I got these statistics from the website "Abort73.com" they are doing an awesome job exposing the horrors of abortion.

    • Jcjanko

The Constitution of the United States preserves the rights of life, liberty, and property without due process of law. Not only is the federal government not authorized to pay for abortions in any way at all, but by allowing them is going directly against the intent of the Constitution, since it was a court decision that overturned laws protecting the unborn. Therefore, due process has been suspended by the federal government, against the Constitution, and against laws in all 50 states at the time.

Besides that, your post is absolutely disgustingly vile in your defense of murder and the use of other people’s money to commit such crimes.

    • Lauraann

I am 100% Pro-Life.  In the case of rape or incest, just what did the child do to merit death.  It’s the perpetrator that deserves punishment not the child of the perpetrator.  As for the life of the mother being in danger, a child can be delivered early in order to save the mother’s life.

  • Becky, CO

I’m a birth mom. Giving up my baby boy want the most difficult, heart-wrenching experience I’ve had in my 30 years on this earth. I wouldn’t change that decision for all the money in the world. No child deserves to be killed, much less out of convenience. Kudos, to these celebrities for standing up against abortion amidst the enormous amounts of adversity.

    • sara

I have heard that it in many ways as difficult as your child dying. I applaud you for making such a difficult decision.

    • Elisabeth

I know that your decision was a difficult one. I admire that you did the best thing for your child.  I know what you went through was very difficult.  I have a 12 year old daughter,  who would have had a cousin the same age, but was aborted insted.  I wish I could have known my niece or nephew,  and maybe the child’s mother wouldn’t have cried when my daughter was born.  Our family is missing a child, and the child’s mother, I don’t know what ever happened to her.

  • Auntie12

I would have added a sixth celeb., Patricia Heaton. I don’t know if she still is, but she was head of Feminists for Life. She puts her $$ where her mouth is and supports adoption of all kids but especially Down’s and pushes it on Twitter. She recently donated $10,000 to Reece’s Rainbow, an international Down’s adoption charity.

    • Anonymous

      Yea she is great!

    • Jennie

i LOVE patricia heaton.  she has done some increidble work in the past and still does, especially with feminists for life.  this wasn’t an easy list to make and i focused only on 2011, but if i had to make an all-time list, she’d be on it, hands-down.

Don’t forget we Got Donald Trump now(the Apprentice) (The art of the Deal for us oldenfahtzens).  Tebow is the top though.  That’s what the school administrators really hate about Tebowing.  They have a harder time making heartless murderers and murderesses out of their little charges.

  • Can_of_dice84

What I want to know is how someone can say they are for “choice” and then turn around and be for abortion. Abortion TAKES AWAY the child’s right to be born and I want and believe to say that the child would make a CHOICE to not be killed!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Margaret Allain

    Good Counsel Network  are amazing

  • pookie6

Where is Patricia Heaton fall on the list?

I encourage these 5 influential celebrities to continue to defend the unborn.Well done.

Where are the “Celebrities”?  Justin Bieber? A kid? who are these other people, never heard of them

  • Simulpec

I like Tebow and all but other than that Super Bowl commercial, which really didn’t say anything, I have not heard him speak pro-life. He has been very vocal about his faith, and for that he should be commended, but that is not the same as making a pro-life testimony. That he is even on this is list just shows that whoever put the list together is guilty of wanting to grab the flavor of the moment. Equally absurd, if not moreso is Justin Bieber. And he didn’t even make a full pro-life confession. He said abortion is “like” killing a baby. No Bieber, it is killing a baby. Regardless, one comment in a Rolling Stone interview hardly makes him a champion of the pro-life movement. Get Bieber and/or Tebow off of there and put Patrica Heaton and Gary Cherone on there. They have both been far more vocal than either Bieber or Tebow; in Heaton’s case it has probably even cost her acting jobs. IMO Heaton should be at the top of the list. This list is a joke!!

  • Molly Sheahan

Go Tim! This Facebook event is for people to spread around and share to encourage people to donate to their local pregnancy center. :D Or, donate to Live Action because they’re awesome! http://www.facebook.com/events/340472079301731/

In Tebow’s case, the anti life groups seems to be saying, even if indirectly, that they wish Tim Tebow HAD, indeed, been aborted. Shame on them!

  • Diane

    I would add Christian Bale

  • Anonymous

Never thought there would ever be a reason I would like Justin Bieber…as in ever…

    I now have one.

As The Biebs himself might say, “Never say never…” ;)

  • Dmlutz

I appreciate Ray Comfort’s pro-life stand. I do not appreciate his anti-Catholic approach to evangelization.

  • Jennifer

Justin Bieber better watch his back now. Planned Parenthood are going to send their mafia goons to silence him. He is a direct threat to their future customers. Planned Parenthood is spending a lot of time and money trying to indoctrinate todays teens and pre-teens into their culture of death. They are going to be none too happy to have this young man speaking the truth. God forbid young girls find out what the truth behind “reproductive justice” really is. I’m kind of surprised we haven’t heard more about this in the main stream media. I suppose they just want to treat it like the March for Life in Washington. Ignore it and hope it will go away. Well guess what PP and liberal media and the rest of you abortion lovers out there, not only are we not going away we are growing and becoming stronger. Good will prevail in the end.
