Washington, D.C. (Jan. 22, 2019) – Planned Parenthood’s newly released annual report shows its abortions and taxpayer funding have continued to increase while services such as cancer screenings have continued to decline and prenatal care and adoption referrals remain minimal offerings. An analysis of the numbers is below Lila Rose’s statement.
Statement from Lila Rose, president and founder of national pro-life organization Live Action:
“Planned Parenthood is not a health care organization — the corporation is America’s largest abortion chain, and its own numbers prove it. Hundreds of thousands of innocent, precious children – some old enough to survive outside the womb – are killed in its facilities every year. Services like Pap tests and manual breast exams continue their downward trajectory, while abortions and government funding continue to increase. Planned Parenthood has increased abortions while it offers virtually no services to help pregnant moms birth or care for their babies. Referring one child out for adoption for every 117 abortions you perform and offering just 9,000 prenatal services compared to over 332,000 abortions shows this corporation is more interested in aborting babies than helping moms have healthy births.”
“Planned Parenthood President Leana Wen admitted this month that Planned Parenthood’s ‘core mission is providing, protecting and expanding access to abortion,’ and it recently published a plan to expand its abortions in 2019. Poll after poll shows a majority of American taxpayers are opposed to funding abortions. When taxpayers subsidize nearly 40 percent of Planned Parenthood’s budget and the abortion chain readily admits its core mission is abortion, taxpayer money is supporting abortions, period. Every day, 912 preborn children are poisoned, suctioned to death, and dismembered inside Planned Parenthood.”
“Planned Parenthood’s latest annual report just adds to the growing body of evidence that the president must do everything he can to defund this abortion corporation now and get the American taxpayer out of the barbaric, violent business of abortion.”
