Live Action Condemns Lawsuit Seeking to
Remove FDA Abortion Pill Requirements
Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday, the ACLU and the pro-abortion American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG) filed a lawsuit against the FDA in an effort to remove regulations on the dispensation of the dangerous abortion drug, Mifeprex.
Mifeprex kills children in the womb and carries serious health risks to pregnant women. ACOG and the ACLU are suing to remove the FDA’s Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy, or REMS, that govern the prescription of Mifeprex.
Lila Rose, Founder and President of Live Action, commented:
“The abortion industry actors in this case have chosen to play politics with the lives of women and children. This lawsuit is emblematic of the abortion movement’s wider abortion-expansion agenda.
“It is unconscionable that the FDA approved Mifeprex for the horrific use of killing children twenty years ago. That decision sanctioned the deaths of untold millions of children and a shocking number of women as well. Children killed by Mifeprex are starved to death, while women injured by the drug can suffer fatal infections or hemorrhage. No civilized nation’s health authority should allow a drug to be used to kill. The FDA should not only defend REMS; it should rescind its approval of the Mifexprex abortion regimen completely.”
