Washington, D.C. –  Today, President Donald J. Trump nominated Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court to fill the vacancy left by the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Live Action founder and president, Lila Rose, addressed the nomination saying:

“The Justices who have made history were those who had the courage to buck the status quo by defending the constitutional protections of the vulnerable and oppressed. We support the nomination and swift confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

“Our Declaration of Independence declares “all men are created equal,” and our Constitution ensures due process to protect the lives of all people. But we can think of key points in American history when America did not live up to her promise of protection and equal rights under the law, as evidenced by slavery, segregation, and restrictions on women’s rights. But America’s legacy comes from her ability to course-correct where she’s not meeting the ideals of her founding documents. Like Dred Scott, Plessy v. Ferguson, and Korematsu v.. U.S., Roe v. Wade casts a dark shadow on America’s justice system and must be redressed. The incoming Justice has the opportunity to be part of America’s course-correction on abortion, helping to repair the damage done by RGB and her ideological counterparts. We are confident Amy will lend her legal qualifications to the work of justice — on Roe v. Wade and beyond. 

“As the Senate now looks to the great responsibility of swiftly confirming a new justice, we the people must insist the Supreme Court uphold the principle of equal protection under the law guaranteed by the 14th Amendment, which declares that no person shall be deprived of life without due process. For nearly 50 years, the Supreme Court has violated the U.S. Constitution to permit the lawless killing of 60 million children in the womb. Every day in our nation, 2,363 children with a beautiful future ahead are poisoned, dismembered, and suctioned to death by abortion. This is the greatest injustice of our day. It is time to fix what we’ve gotten wrong.”
