Kathy Ireland, Sisters of Life, Governor Kevin Stitt to receive ‘Life Awards,’ DW’s Michael Knowles to speak
Honorees were chosen for their uncompromising and compassionate defense of preborn children.
Washington, D.C. – Live Action, one of the nation’s leading human rights organizations, is proud to honor several courageous individuals at its upcoming Life Awards Gala on September 23, 2023 in Dana Point California. In a highly selective qualification process, each honoree was carefully chosen due to their uncompromising and compassionate defense of preborn children and their families. Three categories are considered: personal integrity, sacrifices made to publicly defend the preborn, and the impactful contributions made to create a Culture of Life.
Live Action’s president and founder, Lila Rose, said of the awardees, “Now more than ever, we must celebrate those courageous individuals who are willing to stand up for the most vulnerable. These Life Award Honorees inspire us all to be passionately and proactively pro-life in evert face of our own lives. On this night, we will honor them, and chart the path towards a future that protects all human life.”
This is Live Action’s Fourth Annual Gala. Each awardee will receive a Life Award, hand-crafted and designed by renowned international sculptor and award-winning artist Tom White. The sculptor’s intent was to capture the love of a mother and herchild in a stylized form that could represent any mother. The halo encircling her head was developed to depict the eternal bond between the two, with the mother gazing down with love and compassion while holding her child close to her in an act of protection.
Alongside our heroic awardees, Live Action is thrilled to have Michael Knowles share remarks about the importance of this life-saving work at this celebratory event. Michael Knowles is the celebrated host of “The Michael Knowles Show” at the Daily Wire and “The Book Club” at PragerU. He is also the author of the best-selling book “Speechless: Controlling Words, Controlling Minds.”
Supermodel-turned-super-mogul Kathy Ireland is Chair, CEO, and Chief Designer of kathy ireland Worldwide®, the most powerful woman-owned licensing brand in the world, according to License Global. Kathy enjoys a global platform as a result of proven leadership in human rights advocacy, including for the rights of preborn children.
Kathy was not always pro-life and previously believed being pro-choice was pro-woman. “I was once pro-choice,” she said, “and the thing that changed my mind was reading my husband’s biology books and medical books. What I learned is simply what it states… At the moment of conception, a life starts. And this life has its own unique set of DNA, which contains a blueprint for the whole genetic being. The sex is determined. Now people ask the question: ‘Well, is it a human being?’ We know there’s a life because it’s growing and changing.” Ireland is an outspoken opponent of legislation currently expanding abortion in her native California, using her platform to call for resistance to laws such as AB-2223, which legalized infanticide in the state.
The Sisters of Life are a religious community of women founded in 1991 by Cardinal John O’Connor. In addition to the three consecrated religious vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, the Sisters of Life take a fourth vow to protect and enhance the sacredness of human life. Immersed in Eucharistic prayer within a vibrant community life, the sisters’ missions include: caring for women who are pregnant and in crisis; accompanying college students on campus; inviting those suffering after abortion to receive the healing mercy of Jesus; intercessory prayer; retreat works; and fostering a culture of life through evangelization. Governor Kevin Stitt is leading Oklahoma to become the most pro-life state in the nation and is proud to embrace the title of the country’s most pro-life governor. In 2018, Governor Stitt received more votes than any gubernatorial candidate in state history in his first bid for elected office of any kind. While running for office, Governor Stitt promised that he would sign every pro-life bill that came across his desk, and he has kept that promise. Stitt is a fourth-generation Oklahoman and a graduate of Oklahoma State University. He and his wife, Sarah, have been married for 25 years, and they have six children.
Previous Life Award recipients include Ben Shapiro, Benjamin and Kirsten Watson, Attorney General Lynn Fitch, Mary Wagner, Pastor Lee Jong-Rak, Gianna Jessen, Eduardo Verástegui, David Daleiden, and Senator Katrina Jackson.
