Lila Rose at United Nations: Abortion is a ‘contradiction of every human right’
WASHINGTON — Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action, spoke at the United Nations on Friday at the Transatlantic Summit. Held on the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Summit convenes leaders committed to the defense of human rights, particularly those referred to protecting life, family, and fundamental freedoms.
Rose powerfully argued during her speech that human rights not only apply to, but begin in the womb:
“Since our universal human rights are grounded in being human—not in a person’s age, level of development, or location—human embryos and fetuses have the same inalienable and universal right to life as human infants, toddlers, teenagers, and adults.”
Rose added:
“Abortion, at its core, is a contradiction of every human right. If human rights are not for all, then they are for none. If human rights do not apply to human life in the womb, they apply to no one.”
At the conclusion of her remarks, Rose challenged the international community to take a definitive stand to end abortion globally:
“I call on the United Nations to address the human rights abuse of abortion and set a resolution to end it.”
