Lila Rose Comments on the “Life-Affirming Oral Arguments” in Pivotal Supreme Court Abortion Case
CEO of Pro-Life Org Live Action responds after hearing concludes in Dobbs v. Jackson
Washington, DC – This morning, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments for Dobbs v. Jackson, a pivotal abortion case that could allow states to protect human life, and could potentially overturn Roe v. Wade. During oral arguments, Live Action, one of the nation’s leading human rights nonprofits, was present at a rally alongside Mississippi’s Attorney General and thousands of both pro-life and pro-choice groups who gathered on the steps of the Supreme Courthouse.
Lila Rose, president and founder of Live Action, shared her expert insight following oral arguments. “Over 60 million American children have died at the hands of the abortion industry since the constitutional fiction of Roe v. Wade restricted the ability for communities to protect innocent lives almost fifty years ago. The Court must rectify their defining 20th-century error and overturn the unjust and illogical precedent of Roe. This case, with strong life-affirming arguments by the Mississippi Attorney General team, is the right opportunity at the right time. Our nation cannot afford for the Court to fail us.”
The law under scrutiny prohibits abortions after the fifteenth week of pregnancy except in cases of a so-called medical emergency. A decision in favor of Mississippi would likely allow states to pass legislation protecting the preborn in a way that has been impossible since Roe.
Rose continued, “Science has advanced dramatically since 1973, yet the ancient approach of Roe still governs us. Now, we have 4-D ultrasounds that allow us to perform surgery and save life in-utero and high-definition footage showing the earliest moments of life – medical advancements that will only continue to advance further.”
Rose concluded, “Definitions and standards of Roe’s so-called ‘viability’ are vague, illogical, and ever-changing. Roe did not settle the debate but only confused the nation as to why some people are granted legal protection in our country and others are legally allowed to be killed by abortion. There is only one right way for the Court to rule. They must overturn the fictitious “right” to kill a pre-born American citizen and remember that under our Constitution, every American – born or preborn – has an inherent right to life.”
