Full Petition Text: Urge Walmart, Costco, Kroger, and other major chains to resist pressure to dispense the abortion pill

TO:

Walmart President & CEO C. Douglas McMillon,

Costco CEO Ron Vachris,

Kroger Chairman & CEO W. Rodney McMullen,

Albertsons CEO & Director Vivek Sankaran,

McKesson CEO Brian S. Tyler

Dear CEOs of Walmart, Costco, Kroger, Albertsons, and McKesson,

It has been brought to my attention that you are facing pressure to dispense the abortion pill mifepristone (Mifeprex). As a concerned customer, I am writing to strongly urge you to refuse to dispense these deadly pills:

Whereas, it is the primary responsibility of all medical professionals, including pharmacists, to “first do no harm,” and

Whereas, the abortion pill is presently estimated to kill over 1,700 preborn babies every day, and

Whereas, the abortion pill has been associated with the deaths of 32 women since 2000* and carries significant risks of serious side effects and/or complications for the women who take it, and

Whereas, dispensing abortion drugs for use in terminating a pregnancy will result in your corporation being complicit in the murder of hundreds of thousands of preborn children, potentially damaging the reputation of your business and corporation’s brand and increasing the likelihood your shareholders could face losses due to boycotts from existing and future customers,

Therefore, as your customer, I call on you to reject the influence of NYC Comptroller Brad Lander and any other government official pressuring your corporation to become certified to dispense the abortion pill mifepristone (Mifeprex). I further urge you to publicly commit to never dispensing these deadly pills at any of your stores or associated pharmacies.

Sincerely,

A concerned customer of Walmart, Costco, Kroger, Albertsons, and/or Health Mart

PS: I invite you to listen to the testimonies of women who have used the abortion pill to end the lives of their preborn children, recorded in Live Action’s “I Saw My Baby” video series, and ask yourself: Would I want my sister, my daughter, my wife, my mother to go through something like this? Would I want to be part of causing them such suffering?

*The FDA has received reports of serious adverse events in patients who took mifepristone. As of December 31, 2022, there were 32 reports of deaths in patients associated with mifepristone since the product was approved in September 2000, including two cases of ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy located outside the womb, such as in the fallopian tubes) resulting in death; and several fatal cases of severe systemic infection (also called sepsis). The adverse events cannot with certainty be causally attributed to mifepristone because of concurrent use of other drugs, other medical or surgical treatments, co-existing medical conditions, and information gaps about patient health status and clinical management of the patient. A summary report of adverse events that reflects data through December 31, 2022, is here. The FDA has reviewed this information and did not identify any new safety signals. The FDA intends to update this summary report as appropriate.
