Busy Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Maryland is shutting down

A busy Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Silver Spring, Maryland, is shutting down after pro-lifers put pressure on property owners. Operation Rescue reports that activist Lauren Handy, who is also the director of Mercy Missions, launched a campaign over the summer called “Abortion is Bad Business,” aimed at shutting down the facility within six months.

Handy urged Peel Properties owner Denise Peel, who is a Catholic, to end Planned Parenthood’s lease in the location and to order the facility to vacate the building. Her plea was successful — Peel Properties has reportedly terminated its lease with the abortion giant and Handy is ecstatic over the news.

“We are so excited that Planned Parenthood is closing! Happy Birthday, Planned Parenthood!” she told supporters outside the abortion facility on Planned Parenthood’s 100th anniversary.

Operation Rescue President Troy Newman applauded the closure:

“This just proves that tactics like this, which Operation Rescue has employed for years, are successful at shutting down abortion mills and saving lives.”

The Planned Parenthood location set to close commits an estimated 100 abortions every month, and the location is currently on a month-to-month lease until they permanently vacate.

Handy is urging pro-lifers to continue their prayer vigils outside the facility until the center shuts down for good. She is also asking individuals to call Peel Properties at (301) 280-4400 to urge them to boot Planned Parenthood out now.
