23-year-old Ahmed Sameer Almesbahi, a student at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, has been charged with 11 counts including unlawful termination of a pregnancy and sexual assault, after a woman claimed he forced her to undergo an abortion against her will. Almesbahi allegedly performed the forced abortion himself, with a shish kebab skewer.

Almesbahi, a native of Saudi Arabia, was studying in the U.S. on a student visa. The alleged victim claims she and Almesbahi were married through an Islamic ceremony, while Almesbahi claims the woman was simply his girlfriend, according to The Gazette.

ident allegedly took place in August of 2015. Police arrested Almesbahi on September 26, 2016, after gathering evidence including medical records demonstrating the alleged victim was pregnant in 2015, and pictures of the aborted fetus, which was allegedly expelled in the bathroom of a local mall.

According to police, Almesbahi was previously arrested in 2015 after a domestic disturbance involving the same woman.

The Gazette reports, “Almesbahi is also charged with witness intimidation, alleging that he threatened the woman to stay away from court after he was cited for domestic violence in 2015.”

The alleged victim met Almesbahi through an online dating site for Muslims. Almesbahi has been banned from the campus of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs “until further notice.”
