Thirty-eight years, and I still don’t see it being safe and rare.
Apparently many “women’s health clinics” don’t go by the same rules other doctor’s offices do, since we keep hearing in the news about some woman killed by a botched abortion. Not on a back alley with a wire hanger, but by a licensed physician.
Granted, the doctors are not gods, and accidents happen. These deaths we keep hearing about happen in circumstances that could very well be prevented — especially when inspectors fail to report irregularities. The Grand Jury and many people have found Dr. Gosnell’s practices deplorable and horrendous. And the way he kept body parts of the babies is just grotesque.
However, how different is the way he murdered the aborted babies born alive, and the way a partial birth abortion is performed? Apparently, the only difference is a few inches of maternal tissue.
It seems that the mother’s convenience has more weight before the law than the well-being of a small person that may or not be able to breathe on their own.
As we become a society with more aging adults, that eventually will just inconvenience the younger population, will the older adults be seen as equal human beings once we cannot tend for ourselves? Or will the ninth amendment no longer apply to those “that cannot prove they are not human anymore”.
