Megan Fox, a columnist for PJ Media, recently posed as a teen in an online chat to see what sort of advice Planned Parenthood would give to a teenager looking for information on sexual topics. What she found was more of the same when it comes to Planned Parenthood’s seeming inability to give teens sound or safe advice in this arena.
Planned Parenthood has partnered with MTV on the website, It’s Your Sex Life, and the site has a “chat with an expert” feature. Fox told the Planned Parenthood “expert” that she was a white female, age 15. She then asked, “Can anal sex hurt you?” The expert, “Beverly,” didn’t directly answer the question, instead directing Fox to obtain “lubricants [to] make safer sex feel better.”

Fox notes that after some discussion on which type of lubricant to use, “… the representative began trying to sell me an IUD, which I said I didn’t want because I heard it could induce abortion and I didn’t want that. ‘Beverly’ ignored that concern completely and moved on to trying to sell me other forms of birth control.”
Fox then changed the subject, replying, “My boyfriend is a lot older than me so he knows what he is doing. But he talks about anal sex and I don’t know if I should try it. I heard it can hurt you. I’m afraid things won’t work right down there after.” Beverly didn’t bat an eye at the suggestion that a 15-year-old child was with a much older boyfriend — but then, Planned Parenthood has a history of covering up sexual abuse.
To Beverly’s credit, at least she suggested that Fox make sure to use a different condom before engaging in vaginal intercourse following anal, to prevent fecal matter and harmful bacteria from entering the vaginal canal. Beverly also informed her, after what Fox calls “major prodding,” that STDs like gonorrhea and chlamydia are a risk, and that there could be pain after sex. However, Fox noted that “‘Beverly’ did not inform me of the great risk of anal tears, fissures, anal infections, anal cancer, incontinence, and anal prolapse.”
In a different chat session, Fox posed as a 13-year-old boy, asking for information on “auto-erotic asphyxiation, which can be deadly.” Fox says the Planned Parenthood expert should have warned any teen not to engage in such an activity… but two different experts simply directed the teen to contact a local Planned Parenthood health center. Fox writes, “They claimed they only talk about pregnancy testing and STDs and birth control, but ‘Beverly’ had just talked to me about anal sex…. I made sure to let [the expert] know that [the teen] was going to try it anyway to see if he would try to stop him. He didn’t.”
Planned Parenthood has a poor track record with helping teens to practice healthy sexual habits. Undercover Live Action investigators caught Planned Parenthood counselors encouraging teens to practice BDSM. As noted on the Live Action website, “In Planned Parenthood facilities across the country, clinicians advised Live Action investigators, whom they believed were underage, how to experiment with dangerous sexual practices and illegally visit sex shops.”
Again, Planned Parenthood has shown that it just cannot be trusted to look after the best interest of our children.
