The University of California-San Francisco — a state taxpayer-funded university — is a busy bee when it comes to not just promoting the idea of abortion, but making sure that more of it happens, by training abortionists. According to Campus Reform, The UCSF Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health on campus is involved with “pioneering new methods of abortion, expanding the ranks of doctors specializing in abortion, and bolstering awareness of the positive impact of abortion on women’s lives.” Along with this, the Bixby Center…
… boasts of its work leading to a change in California law that allows physician assistants and nurse practitioners to perform early abortions, which typically refers to abortions performed up to nine weeks after the start of a pregnancy.
The UCSF Bixby Center is a financial supporter of the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute and has been behind questionable studies paid for by hefty, philanthropic pro-abortion donors. One online research paper on population control quotes author Donald Critchlow as writing in his book, “Intended Consequences,” that “Today’s philanthropists have a genuine belief that they can solve this world’s problems—- whether these be war, pollution, poverty or disease simply through population control—something like controlling the world population is a common ambition for them all.”

UCSF’s Fellowship in Family Planning pays fellows approximately $65,000 annually, along with “the ability to earn a fully-funded Masters degree and obtain additional funding for research, travel, and continuing education” and “post-fellowship assistance with job placement and salary support for two years post-fellowship” which are “standard.” Quite tempting. Campus Reform further writes:
Each fellow will be assigned to work at one of 30 colleges, where they will gain training in “all methods of pregnancy termination,” as well as “anesthesia and pain control” and “treatment of complications.”
Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Utah are among the institutions that have agreed to host a fellow thus far….
So, what will these fellows be learning as part of their training, promoted across the United States by a public university? For one, they’ll be learning how to convince women to have abortions, regardless of their reservations.
Campus Reform reports that the Early Abortion Training Workbook used to train Fellows at UCSF’s Bixby Center features a section on “pregnancy options counseling techniques” in which abortionists are encouraged to tell pregnant patients that they “may be making the most responsible decision by not continuing the pregnancy,” while, of course, no life-affirming pregnancy options are discussed. Campus Reform writes, “While this might be perfunctory counseling for women who are certain that they want an abortion, this particular advice is actually aimed at ‘patients who are less sure’ about whether or not they should carry their child to term.”
The College Fix adds, “The practitioner is instructed to not humanize preborn children, referring to ‘this pregnancy’ and the ‘situation’ and ‘decision,’ and it lays out a framework for convincing women to abort.” For those who are “ambivalent,” abortionists are to ask women how their unplanned pregnancy would “change or affect” their future plans and goals. For those who have “spiritual or moral conflict[s],” abortionists are instructed to encourage women to recognize that “people of all faiths and religions have abortions,” and that they should consult “their own clergy and/or a pro-choice religious group” if they have trouble “feeling like a good person” when it comes to their decision to abort.
