Last Friday, the state of Missouri made the decision to suspend Medicaid payments to the nation’s number one abortion profiteer, Planned Parenthood, which commits approximately 900 abortions per day nationwide — more than 320,000 abortions per year. While the abortion corporation and its friends in the media choose to emphasize Planned Parenthood’s legitimate health care services like cancer screenings, the truth is that these non-abortion services have been plummeting at the organization for several years, along with its patient numbers. The organization performs less than 1% of the nation’s breast exams, less than 3% of the nation’s Pap tests, and less than 2% of all cancer screenings. Over the years, the health care services the organization provides have steadily declined, while abortions have risen. Breast exams have dropped by over 60%, cancer screenings by over 68%, and Pap tests by 77%.
Yet at the same time, it holds the lion’s share of the abortion market in the nation, at around 35 percent.
KCUR reported that the cutting off of Missouri’s Medicaid funds comes as the result of “a provision in the 2018 budget cutting off funds for abortion providers and abortion counselors. That provision was part of a bill appropriating money for the Department of Social Services that passed on May 9. The letter was sent even though the bill had yet to be signed by the governor. Gov. Mike Parson told KCUR on Tuesday evening that he intends to sign it.”
KCUR notes, “Federal law already bars the use of Medicaid funds for abortions, but the budget provision cuts off Medicaid funding for all Planned Parenthood’s services.” However, the media outlet failed to note that any money received by Planned Parenthood — because the same doctors and facilities are used to provide abortions as to provide other health services — essentially funds abortion, too. It’s called fungibility, and it’s something the media repeatedly overlooks when it comes to the nation’s largest abortion provider. Watch:
KCUR also noted that a judge recently upheld a Missouri law “requiring medication abortion providers to be backed up by ob-gyns with hospital admitting privileges who are available 24 hours a day seven days a week,” as reported this week by Live Action News.
In light of the proposed revisions to Title X ‘family planning’ funding by the Trump administration’s Department of Health and Human Services, which removes these funds from abortion providers like Planned Parenthood, perhaps other states will begin to follow in Missouri’s footsteps.
