According to 911 tapes obtained by the Pro-Life Action League, two women were transported by ambulance from a Chicago Planned Parenthood to Northwestern Hospital via ambulance for serious heavy bleeding in the same month. The 911 calls were given to Operation Rescue and show that both incidences took place at Planned Parenthood on LaSalle Drive in Chicago, where at least six known women have been hospitalized from botched abortions since November 2017.
The first emergency occurred on the July 5, 2018, and involved a 35-year-old abortion patient who was experiencing heavy bleeding suspected to be the result of either an injury to her uterus — such as a uterine perforation — or an injury to her cervix. Planned Parenthood staff attempted to use a Foley balloon catheter to control the hemorrhaging but were unsuccessful in their attempts and had to call for an ambulance.
The second botched abortion occurred July 27, 2018, and involved a 30-year-old abortion patient with uncontrolled vaginal bleeding. The 911 dispatcher on this call seemed familiar with the facility and said it was unfortunate to have to ask if there were any pro-life “protesters” at the facility that day.
In August, Operation Rescue reported that there were four botched abortions at this same Chicago Planned Parenthood within four months. These emergencies bring the total to six botched abortions in a 12-month period.

In October of 2017, the facility requested an ambulance for a 35-year-old woman who was bleeding “more than normal.” In November 2017, a 20-year-old woman suffered seizures after her abortion and needed an ambulance to the hospital. In February 2018, a 26-year-old woman needed emergency care from the hospital due to “excessive bleeding.” And also in February 2018, the facility called 911 because a 32-year-old patient was “not as responsive” as they would have expected her to be after her abortion.
“We fully expect to see more women injured by abortion at this Chicago Planned Parenthood before the end of the year,” noted Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “It is a sad reality of abortion that babies die and their mothers are maimed and sometimes killed at shoddy facilities like this one. Abortion was not safe for these women, and it remains a danger to the public until this unsafe abortion facility can be shut down.”
The legalization of abortion did not make the procedure safe. Women including Tonya Reaves and Cree Erwin-Sheppard have died as a result of their abortions at Planned Parenthood.
Countless other women have been injured by Planned Parenthood abortionists. But we will never know the true number or women hurt by legal abortion because only half of U.S. states even report abortion complications. In fact, only 27 states are required to report any botched abortions.
