Operation Rescue has reported that Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger Health Center in New York City has injured another patient. On October 26, 2018, pro-life activists were present as two ambulances arrived in response to Planned Parenthood’s request for assistance. However, due to the size of the elevator in the building, paramedics were unable to use a gurney to move the woman to the ambulance.
Operation Rescue has documented at least 12 emergencies at the Margaret Sanger Planned Parenthood center in the last two years. Troy Newman, the group’s president, says that additional women may have been injured, but because his organization depends on eyewitness accounts from pro-lifers, any additional numbers are unknown.

But one thing is clear: this facility has a habit of harming women. It also continues to fail women by not ensuring a safe exit for injured patients in need of an ambulance to transport them to the hospital. This particular injured woman was seen being brought out of the facility in a portable wheelchair.
Planned Parenthood has been fighting safety regulations in their facilities for years, even those that would require their buildings to accommodate gurneys. While many pro-abortion groups and abortion proponents wonder why pro-lifers would be concerned with hallway or elevator size, it’s these details that matter when it comes to saving a life.
Take, for example, the case of 41-year-old Karnamaya Mongar, a patient who died at the hands of infamous abortionist and convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell. Mongar was unable to be saved by paramedics partially because of the size of the hallways in Gosnell’s facility. The Grand Jury Report from Gosnell’s trial states:
[T]here may have been some slim hope of reviving Mrs. Mongar. The paramedics were able to generate a weak pulse. But, because of the cluttered hallways and the padlocked emergency door, it took them over 20 minutes just to find a way to get he out of the building.

The Report went on to say that “[c]linics must have doors, elevators, and other passages adequate to allow stretcher-bone patients to be carried to a street-level exit.”
Despite the obvious need for safe exits in case of emergencies, groups like Planned Parenthood continue to deny their importance. Planned Parenthood claims that regulations such as these will lead to a lack of access to abortion for women. It seems that little concern is given, however, to ensuring women’s safety.
