Women’s Med Center, home abortionist Martin Haskell, who pioneered the gruesome — and now illegal — partial-birth abortion procedure, may finally close forever, thanks to a ruling from an Ohio appeals court. The facility, which commits abortions even in the third trimester of pregnancy, failed to meet state licensing regulations, which require either admitting privileges or a transfer agreement with a local hospital. Thanks to the ruling from the appeals court, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is now free to revoke the facility’s license.
Ohio has been battling with Women’s Med Center for years in an effort to close the notorious abortion facility. Last month, Ohio’s Second District Court of Appeals heard the case, in which the facility battled an adjudication order revoking the facility’s license as an ambulatory surgical center. Women’s Med Center had filed an appeal in 2016, and a judge previously allowed the facility to remain open as it fought the state requirements.
In the ruling, the three-judge panel declared that “ODH was entitled to revoke, suspend, or refuse, to renew the license” of the facility.

Women’s Med Center has not been able to acquire a transfer agreement with an area hospital, or admitting privileges. But the facility is not giving up. “It’ll be up to the courts as to how long the clinic remains open,” David Greer, an attorney for the facility, said in an interview with WYSO. “We would hope that until all the federal issues are resolved and the state issues are resolved the clinic would remain open and available for patients who need it.” He also added that they are considering filing an appeal with the state Supreme Court.
In addition to being the abortionist behind the partial-birth abortion procedure, Haskell was one of several abortionists with complaints filed against him for refusing to report the sexual abuse of children — a collective 48 times. The victims were as young as 12.
As the case makes its way through the courts, women continue to suffer at Haskell’s hands; according to Operation Rescue, there have been several medical emergencies this year alone.
