A former Planned Parenthood staffer and registered lobbyist has been tapped by the Elizabeth Warren presidential campaign in Florida. According to TampaBay.com, Kimberly Diaz Scott left her position as Planned Parenthood’s head of public policy in Florida to work as the Warren campaign’s Florida state director. The paper noted that “Diaz announced her jump to the Warren campaign on Facebook… saying that she was leaving the Florida Planned Parenthood Alliance after five years with the organization.” The Alliance is the advocacy and political organization of Planned Parenthood’s Florida affiliates.
But as a presidential candidate, Warren is not alone in hiring Planned Parenthood insiders.
Florida’s lobbyist registration website lists Kimberly Angela Diaz as a 2015 registered lobbyist in the state for Planned Parenthood. Diaz Scott’s LinkedIn page notes that in addition to working for Planned Parenthood, she previously worked as:
- Former Chief of staff at Florida Senate
- Former Regional Political Director at Charlie Crist for Governor 2014
The move to hire the former Planned Parenthood lobbyist has been criticized by some who say Warren is violating her recent “plan” to “end lobbying as we know it.”
In July, as previously documented by Live Action News, Politico reported another Planned Parenthood hire by Warren. Alencia Johnson joined the Senator’s presidential campaign as director of public engagement after leaving as Planned Parenthood’s former director of public engagement. Johnson’s LinkedIn page reveals she had a six year career at the nation’s largest abortion provider, and her online bio reveals she was last tasked to “engage[] political, media, entertainment and corporate influencers to shift public opinion and influence culture change among perceptions of reproductive rights, particularly among communities of color as well as young people.” In December, Johnson was a guest on ComplexCon 2018′s Growth Out of Chaos panel, where she referred to President Trump as “Orangey.”
In December of 2019, media reports indicate that Warren added Kimberly Diaz Scott the former Director of Public Policy for the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates
Michael Bloomberg hires Planned Parenthood staffers
According to the New York Times, in January of 2020, Michael Bloomberg hired Crystal Strait, the former CEO of Planned Parenthood affiliates of California.
Pete Buttigieg hires Planned Parenthood staffers
Warren’s campaign isn’t alone. In May, WTOP reported that Democrat presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg’s new Iowa communications director, Ben Halle, previously worked as press secretary for Planned Parenthood Federation of America for several years, according to his LinkedIn page.
Live Action News previously noted that Buttigieg is also touring with Supermajority, a political group co-founded by former Planned Parenthood president, Cecile Richards.
Beto O’Rourke hires Planned Parenthood staffers
In June, CNN reported that Democrat presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke hired former Planned Parenthood public affairs director Aleigha Cavalier as his national press secretary. Her LinkedIn page, since updated, reveals that she worked for Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania and its political PAC for several years, ending in 2016.
Kamala Harris hired former Planned Parenthood president’s daughter
Lily Adams — the daughter of Planned Parenthood’s former political organizer president Cecile Richards and union-organizing father, Kirk Adams — has worked for Kamala Harris for years and has been seen stumping with the presidential hopeful. As Attorney General of California, Harris brought criminal charges against Center for Medical Progress founder David Daleiden, whose undercover videos exposed Planned Parenthood’s gruesome part in the trafficking of fetal body parts. Live Action News previously reported that, according to e-mails obtained by the Washington Times, “Officials from California Attorney General Kamala Harris’ office and Planned Parenthood collaborated to draft legislation targeting the pro-life activist [Daleiden] whose undercover videos showed officials for the nation’s largest abortion provider discussing the sale of fetal body parts, emails show.”
According to a report by the Texas Tribune, which receives financial support from Planned Parenthood, “Kirk Adams and Cecile Richards founded a group called Texas Freedom Network [TFN] with an aim to counter the religious right movement.” The paper went on to report that Lily Adams “is the communications director to Harris, and she was part of the debate preparation ahead of Harris’ rumble with former Vice President Joe Biden in June….”
Adams may have her own political aspirations, as the paper notes: “Should Harris make it to the White House, either as president or vice president, Democratic onlookers widely assume Adams will follow her boss. But there is also a sense that Adams is bound for a senior White House position no matter who the next Democratic president turns out to be….”
Planned Parenthood is highly political, using its pro-abortion friends in Congress and the media to increase its bottom line. In a 2015 Meet the Press interview with Cecile Richards, host Chuck Todd noted how the organization’s goal was to ramp up its political involvement. Today, Planned Parenthood receives over half a billion dollars in taxpayer funding while ending the lives of over 330,000 preborn children a year. Despite those government dollars, while abortions have been decreasing nationwide, they are increasing at Planned Parenthood, while other health care services offered there are plummeting.
Live Action News previously documented how a former top executive for Planned Parenthood once admitted that its “success” was linked to power and money, and he showed that taxpayer dollars are what enable the abortion corporation to recruit, hire, and pay its top staffers six-digit salaries. In 2017, the corporation’s market share of abortions reached nearly 40 percent (38.5%). An analysis by Live Action News found that the corporation’s abortion revenue totaled an estimated $190 million in just 2017. This has resulted in Planned Parenthood collecting a whopping $244.8 million in excess revenue over spending in just one year, according to its 2017-2018 annual report.
