Senator Cory Booker: Restricting abortion a ‘clear and existential threat’ to America

Cory Booker, abortion

One presidential candidate has identified what he deems to be an “existential threat” in America. No, it’s not the opioid crisis, a threat to the economy, or anything having to do with violence. It’s the closure of abortion facilities.

During the presidential debate Tuesday night, Senator Cory Booker fell into a common trap used by abortion activists: the notion that Planned Parenthood is primarily a healthcare provider, and that abortion is health care.

“I’m having Deja Vu all over again,” said the senator, “because we are having another health care debate and we’re not talking about the clear and existential threat in America – that we are in a state that has had two Planned Parenthoods closed. We are seeing, all over this country, women’s reproductive rights under attack. And, God bless [Senator] Kamala [Harris].

“Women should not be the only ones taking up this cause and this fight. It’s not just because women are our daughters and our friends and our wives. It’s because women are people, and people deserve to control their own bodies.”

Prior to these statements, Booker has claimed that being against taxpayer-funded abortions is an “assault” on African-American women, and has claimed that protections for abortion survivors aren’t necessary.

It’s unfortunate that Planned Parenthood been successful in painting itself as a bastion of women’s “reproductive rights,” when in reality this image could not be further from the truth. Planned Parenthood specializes in violence against the preborn. The abortion giant provides less than two percent of all breast exams, zero mammograms, less than two percent of all cancer screenings, and not even one percent of all pap exams — all while its abortion business has continued to increase year after year.

The reality is that pregnancy centers, such as Obria Medical Group along with many others, are the real champions of women’s reproductive rights. Nationwide, these pregnancy centers have 2,752 locations — more than triple the amount of abortion facilities in this country — staffed by 81,630 volunteers who contribute 6.5 million volunteer hours annually. The pregnancy centers have a client satisfaction rate of 99 percent and are funded almost entirely by private donations.

Many pregnancy centers also provide free healthcare services from volunteer family physicians, obstetricians, and other medical professionals. And available medical services include prenatal care, adoption services, and physical therapy, among others. They also offer vital assistance in the form of tools for life to include pregnancy classes, legal advice, money management advice, cooking classes, and even health and fitness education — all while fighting sex trafficking, which Planned Parenthood facilitates

Pregnancy centers aim to give women resources, care, and compassion they need to choose life, while Planned Parenthood and fellow abortion activists obstruct anyone or anything that could harm their profit margin by giving pregnant women life-affirming options.
