40 Days for Life planning memorial for babies lost to abortion at Texas Planned Parenthood

40 days for life

On February 1, 2020, 40 Days for Life will dedicate a Memorial to the Unborn on the former site of the Bryan/College Station, Texas Planned Parenthood – the abortion facility where 40 Days for Life launched.

At the Memorial, 6,400 crosses will represent the 6,400 children who lost their lives at that Planned Parenthood, which is now the international headquarters of 40 Days for Life. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to sponsor plaques on the encircled Ebenezer Stone pictured in the mockup below. The word “Ebenezer” means  “stone of help” and comes from three Biblical references commemorating the Israelite victory over the Philistines, particularly 1 Samuel 7:12, which reads: “Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying ‘Thus far the Lord has helped us.'”

The Memorial will also stand as a reminder of how God has blessed the 40 Days for Life movement thus far, including how local began praying outside of the Bryan/College Station Planned Parenthood when it was still under construction in 1998 and how in 2009 Bryan/College Station Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson walked through the doors of The Coalition for Life and told them she wanted out of the abortion industry, launching a new wave of pro-life efforts to help abortion workers quit the business.

In 2013, the Bryan/College Station Planned Parenthood closed its doors and by 2014, the former abortion clinic became the international headquarters for 40 Days for Life. This year, 40 Days for Life celebrates 1,000,000 volunteers in 855 cities in 61 countries to date. 104 abortion facilities have closed, 191 abortion workers have left the industry, and 16,004 children are alive today because of 40 Days for Life.

“40 Days for Life started in Texas and has inspired communities around the world to pray, fast, and end abortion at the local level,” reads the 40 Days for Life website. “This Memorial to the Unborn not only honors those lost at this location but serves as a call to action that we must be a voice for the voiceless in every community where abortion takes place.”
