911 records obtained by the pro-life group Operation Rescue reveal that a woman suffered significant injuries during an abortion last fall at Four Women Health Services in Attleboro, Massachusetts. Despite the injuries, facility workers waited until the woman had hemorrhaged two liters of blood — over a half gallon — before calling paramedics.
On the afternoon of October 5, 2019, an abortion facility employee called 911 and simply stated, “This is an emergency. I need you to come and bring the patient to the hospital.” The caller appears to be stalling and unwilling to elaborate. The dispatcher asks her twice, “So, what is going on with the patient?” before she finally reveals that the patient is hemorrhaging.
When paramedics arrived, they found the woman on the procedure table. She had two IVs with a dose of Pitocin and a tamponade balloon, all designed to stop bleeding, but she was still hemorrhaging as a result of the abortion.

The typical human body holds between 4.5 to 5.5 liters of blood. Two liters is a significant and serious loss and would have caused the patient’s blood pressure to drop and her heart to race. She may also have experienced confusion and disorientation or slipped in and out of consciousness. In fact, according to the EMS report, the woman could not sign a consent form for her care due to her distress levels.
The report also indicated that the woman was on the medications Methadone and Gabapentin. Methadone is a synthetic opioid often used to treat heroin or narcotic addiction, while Gabapentin is an anti-seizure drug to help nerve pain.
“This woman obviously had some medical issues that added risks to her abortion. She should have been cared for by legitimate health care professionals, and not the abortion hacks down at the local mill,” said Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue. Newman also pointed out that unfortunate incidents like these are not uncommon. “The reality is that women suffer life-threatening abortion complications nearly every day, and sometimes women die. Abortion isn’t safe, and that is a dirty secret that the Abortion Cartel can no longer keep.”
