I was raised in a pro-life household with Christian parents, but all the values I had been raised with were questioned when I found myself pregnant at 16 years old. On Christmas Day of 2018, I saw two lines show up on a pregnancy test. A million emotions came over me at once, but the strongest one was fear.
I was only 16, a junior in high school, and my boyfriend was a senior. How am I going to finish school? What will my parents say? What will my friends think? All these thoughts flooded my head as the fear remained present.
When I finally got up the courage, I told my boyfriend. “I’m pregnant.”
His first reaction was, “We can’t do this. You need to have an abortion.”
He was also very scared. I knew that was what he wanted me to do, and I felt pressured to just go ahead with abortion because I didn’t want to ruin his life or mine. How would we finish school? How would we provide for a baby?
I knew abortion was ending a pregnancy, but I really didn’t know how that was done. I decided to do some research before I made any decisions. After searching on YouTube about abortion procedures, I came across Live Action’s video where former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino goes into detail on what really happens during an abortion. It showed how the child was barbarically torn from his mother’s womb.
The video terrified me and opened my eyes to the truth. I had no idea that was what abortion really looked like. I couldn’t believe that people did that to their babies, and after seeing that I certainly wasn’t going to do that to mine. I cried after seeing that video, realizing if I had not found it that could have been my baby.
I had been told that it was “my body, my choice” but after seeing that video and being pregnant and feeling life move within me, it was clear that a baby inside of its mother is its own person and abortion ends that precious life.
Being pregnant as a teenager was hard. I felt I couldn’t go out without being judged. But all that hardship was forgotten the day I had my son. The moment he was born and I heard his cry I sobbed uncontrollably with joy. I looked into his eyes for the first time and I saw a glimpse of God.
He was and is a precious gift who brings so much joy to my life and to his father’s life. We love him with all our hearts and feel so blessed to have him as our son. His smile and laughter light up a room and he wouldn’t be here today if I had not seen Live Action’s video. I am eternally grateful for what they do. They saved my son’s life and my life too.
My boyfriend and I get to continue our education while being parents. My son did not take away from my future — he gave me a new one. He is the light of my life.
Thank you, Live Action, for what you do. Thank you for sharing the truth about abortion. Thank you for saving my son.
