‘Fair is fair’: Pro-life org says if Planned Parenthood is in CA schools, life-affirming options should be too

Planned Parenthood

In response to the news that 50 Los Angeles County high schools will be adding Planned Parenthood “Well-Being” centers on their campuses, Students for Life of America has requested access to those same schools in order to counteract Planned Parenthood’s dangerous, anti-life message.

“Fair is fair,” said Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins in a statement. “If the school system wants to provide options to their students, those choices need to include life affirming programs and information on area support as an alternative to Planned Parenthood’s model of chemicals, drugs and abortion.”

Planned Parenthood’s on-campus high school centers will include a “full range of birth control options, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, and pregnancy counseling,” according to The Washington Post. Each of these “services” will be offered without parental knowledge.

Hormonal birth control can be dangerous and even deadly for young women — see herehere, here, here, here, and here regarding young women experiencing serious complications like blood clots and even death — and parents deserve to know if their daughters are using these drugs. Sexually transmitted diseases can also be dangerous, and knowing your child has one can help you care for them and ensure that they receive adequate medical help. In addition, as history has shown, Planned Parenthood’s idea of “pregnancy counseling” is telling girls and women to get abortions. Countless women have recounted stories of how they received no counseling before their abortions.

Having Planned Parenthood centers in the school will open the door for Planned Parenthood to send girls to their own abortion facilities to spend hundreds of dollars on an abortion without their parents’ knowledge — another dangerous situation for young girls, including those who may be in abusive relationships. Having centers in schools is Planned Parenthood’s opportunity to gain the trust of girls as new clients while they are young and impressionable.

Students for Life, if allowed in the schools, would offer life-affirming local resources for pregnant or parenting students and provide them with resources that will help through both their parenting and educational journies. SFLA Pacific Southwest Regional Coordinator Brooke Karmie is in the process of contacting 29 of the schools. “Empowering students by providing resources that will meet their needs, while also helping them achieve their goals should be a common foundation for all educational institutions,” she said.

Planned Parenthood also plans to train hundreds of teens to act as “peer advocates” for other teens with these centers in their schools. They are doing so because they believe teens will listen to other teens. The problem with that is that no teenager is equipped with the knowledge or experience to properly guide other teens in major life decisions.
