According to the Mirror, dangerous at-home abortions allowed during the COVID-19 pandemic will likely become permanent in the UK even after the pandemic ends. Since the United Kingdom first allowed the abortion pill to be taken solely at home in March 2020, at least two women have died and a 28-week-old baby was born alive and later died after the mother took the abortion pill regimen, which is only approved to be used up to the 10th week of pregnancy.
COVID minister James Bethell said a public consultation will be held “on permanent home use of both pills for early medical abortion.” A new law to continue at-home abortions is expected to be approved before the COVID-19 provision ends in 18 months.
“Thanks to telemedicine, women have been able to access the timely, high-quality care they deserve,” said Dr. Jonathan Lord who works for the controversial abortion giant of the UK, Marie Stopes. “Had this not bee available the consequences could have been catastrophic.”
Allowing the abortion pill to be taken based on only a phone call consultation can be very dangerous to women. As has already been shown, the abortion pill has the potential to kill not just the preborn child but the mother as well. The abortion pill has been found to be four times more dangerous than a first-trimester surgical abortion and comes with the risks of hemorrhaging, incomplete abortion, and life-threatening infection. Women who have taken the abortion pill have reported excruciating pain, bleeding that lasts for weeks, and the horror of seeing their aborted child. For women who have an undiagnosed ectopic pregnancy or other unknown health conditions, the risks are greater. In cases of pregnancies that are not accurately dated, a woman can give birth to a living baby — which could lead to trauma and infanticide.
Clare Murphy of the major UK abortion provider BPAS (British Pregnancy Advisory Service) called at-home abortions “one of the few healthcare success stories of the pandemic.” However, abortion is not health care. It is deliberate killing, and is never medically necessary. The only purpose of abortion is to end the life of a human being.

Only the abortion industry stands to benefit from at-home abortions, as providers can still charge for the “service” without actually properly assessing women or even meeting them in person to discuss their options.
Abortionists in the U.S. have long been pushing for at-home abortions using the abortion pill. In July, a federal judge halted a Food and Drug Administration safety protocol (REMS) requiring that the first dose of the abortion pill be taken in an approved hospital or clinic setting, dispensed only by a certified prescriber. To date, 24 women have been known to have died from the abortion pill, but as abortion complication reporting is only required by about half of the states in the U.S., many complications and adverse reactions likely remain unaccounted for.
The abortion pill includes two drugs: mifepristone, which blocks progesterone and starves the preborn child, and misoprostol, which expels the body of the child from the mother’s uterus.
