In August, Arkansas abortionist Tom Tvedten, 74, had his medical license temporarily suspended after the Arkansas State Medical Board (ASMB) decided that his certification of an underage girl for a medical marijuana card presented such “gross negligence and ignorant malpractice” that he was determined to be a danger to the public. Now, pro-life watchdog group Operation Rescue is reporting that Tvedten will be allowed to continue committing abortions but has been deemed too dangerous to continue certifying medical marijuana cards.
In Tvedten’s absence, infamous self-described “Christian” abortionist Willie Parker, who has faced sexual assault allegations, is filling in as Medical Director of Little Rock Family Planning.
Tvedten faced a disciplinary hearing on October 1, 2020, at which he told the board that he would stop certifying medical marijuana cards for minors, but the board unanimously rejected his offer to do so. “Several board members expressed serious concerns about Tvedten’s evaluation of the girl and suggested they would prefer he be barred from certifying any additional patients, whether minor or adults, to receive medical marijuana,” wrote the Associated Press.

The Arkansas Times noted, “The board unanimously rejected Tvedten’s offer to discontinue certifying minors but agreed to allow him to resume his regular practice until his next hearing. Board member Dr. David Staggs suggested Tvedten could save himself the trouble of another hearing by agreeing to discontinue his medical marijuana certifications permanently, because ‘it is obvious what the board wants,’ but Tvedten did not offer to do that.” (emphasis added)
It appears that the Arkansas State Medical Board believes Tvedten is a danger to the public when it comes to certifying medical marijuana cards but not when it comes to actively killing preborn children and injuring their mothers. Operation Rescue has documentation related to 67 medical emergencies at Tvedten’s Little Rock Family Planning Services abortion business. And those are only the known medical emergencies. Women have suffered such horrific injuries, including hemorrhaging and lacerations, that they had to be transferred by ambulance to local hospitals for emergency care, including at least one underaged girl.
“It seems almost absurd that Tvedten is too dangerous to certify medical marijuana cards, but not too dangerous to continue surgical abortions — minors included — even though his abortion business has sent dozens of women to hospital emergency rooms,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “It is clear he poses a threat to the public each day at his abortion clinic, both to mothers and their unborn babies. We will be sending our documentation to the ASMB so they can make a more informed decision about the danger posed by Tvedten, which is much more serious than they may think.”
Operation Rescue reports that Tvedten’s license status is still currently under suspension, but that status may change in the upcoming week.
