Using the Texas Heartbeat Law as an excuse, an abortion business committed 67 abortions in just 17 hours. Whole Woman’s Health boasted of their achievement, telling the 19th, that this took place even though there was just one abortionist — an 80-year-old — available.
Marva Sadler, the director of clinical services, said they committed the rapid abortions with just eight people total on staff, rushing so they could complete the abortions before the Texas restriction on abortions a detectable heartbeat took effect. “We are not the bad guys here,” Sadler said she told her staff. “We are doing everything right and we’re going to help everybody that we can. If there’s someone that we can’t help, it’s not our fault.”
At that rate, Whole Woman’s Health was rushing women through abortions every 15 minutes — essentially, an abortion assembly line.
Though most people might see such large numbers of women feeling that abortion was their only option as a tragedy, those in the abortion industry seem to relish it. “For a moment they were able to savor it. Sadler looked at the doctor and told him physicians half his age wouldn’t have been able to do what he did,” the 19th reported. “Even if he only had performed one abortion, it would have been a victory, she said.”
Killing a preborn human being is never a “victory” under any circumstance, and simply reveals the extreme mindset of the abortion industry and its supporters.
A former employee with Whole Woman’s Health recently acted as a whistleblower about the abortion chain in Texas, even though she says she remains pro-abortion. The former employee, Amanda, said she quit when Whole Woman’s Health made her choose between her job and her child.
She explained that WWH was doing everything they could to increase the number of abortions they committed, long before the Texas Heartbeat Law existed. “They’re just trying to get people in and out, as quickly as possible,” she said. This is sadly not new — former Planned Parenthood employees have testified to the exact same treatment of women:
Amanda also explained that Whole Woman’s Health exploits loopholes to avoid reporting injuries to the women they see; if the abortionist claims he only suspects an injury, he doesn’t have to report it. “If he suspects he did it, they don’t have to file a report,” she said. “So on that one… he said, ‘I suspect I did, because of the way she was moving, and the way she started bleeding, I suspect that I might have.’”
Dr. Ronna Jurow, an OBGYN and former director of family planning at the University of Southern California, told Fox News that pro-life laws like the one in Texas will cause more injuries to women. “Stories like [this] are going to multiply,” Jurow said. “Next, there will be complications with abortions and abortions completed by inexperienced providers will start to be seen. The complications seen will include infected, septic women. Complications with hemorrhaging could lead to women losing their uterus, or losing their lives. Is this the result the Pro-life Movement wants?”
But what is most shocking about this statement is that Jurow is describing what is already happening with legal and accessible abortions, as evidenced by hundreds of 911 calls every year to abortion facilities nationwide. In addition, the abortion pill — which the abortion industry wants freely and readily available by mail without an examination — has been shown to be four times as risky for women as surgical abortion. Hemorrhaging is one of the drug regimen’s most commonly listed complications.
Whole Woman’s Health is an abortion chain notorious for having a long history of health code violations. These include rust spots on suction machines, unlicensed personnel, problems with infection control, expired medicines, and improperly sterilized instruments. One facility in Texas earned 17 pages worth of violations.
