Live Action receives $50,000 grant at National Prayer Luncheon for Life

Live Action

On Friday, pro-life advocates united online and in-person for the National Prayer Luncheon for Life to honor various organizations for their efforts to end abortion. Live Action was one of six finalists for the 2022 Pro-Life Impact Award, a list that also included Embrace Grace, Pro-Life Action League, ProLove Ministries, Support After Abortion, and The Radiance Foundation. Participants were invited to hear from a variety of pro-life speakers, pray, and listen live to the announcement of the 2022 National Prayer Luncheon for Life Pro-Life Impact Award winner and recipient of the $50,000 Pro-Life Impact Grant.

Produced by Heroic Media — an organization that runs online advertisements to connect women to life-affirming pregnancy options — the National Prayer Luncheon for Life started in 2016 as a way to counter Planned Parenthood’s annual Dallas luncheon. By 2021, the initiative evolved into a year-round event that celebrates pro-life organizations and uplifts their efforts to create positive cultural change on abortion.

Last year, Students for Life of America was the recipient of the $50,000 grant. Kristan Hawkins, the president of the organization, was one of the speakers at the 2022 National Prayer Luncheon. During her speech, Hawkins encouraged pro-lifers to take an active role in the movement to end abortion, especially with the Supreme Court’s upcoming decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case.

“My plea for you today is not to waste a moment. Not to let a day go by where you’re not actively thinking or preparing for what is to come in the Dobbs v. Jackson case,” Hawkins said. “And what you have been called, specifically, by our Lord and Savior, to do about it.”

Before the event, people were invited to vote for which group should take first place and be awarded the full grant. At the end of the luncheon, Live Action was announced as the recipient of the $50,000 grant, while Embrace Grace and the Radiance Foundation took home $20,000 and $15,000 respectively as the second and third place honorees. The rest of the finalists each received a $5,000 grant to help them continue their impactful work in the fight for life.

Kimberly Bird, Vice President of External Relations for Live Action, accepted the award, giving a speech on how it will benefit the organization’s work.

“On behalf of Lila Rose and Live Action, we are so grateful to accept this very generous gift to help fund our mission to end abortion,” Bird said. “We are so honored and humbled to be on the stage with these amazing organizations… It’s going to take all of us to end abortion, and we’re so grateful for this opportunity. And we’re grateful for our donors, [and] our staff who passionately, passionately fight every single day to save these preborn children.”

“And I just thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for bringing us all here together today, and we’re grateful for this opportunity. Thank you, Heroic Media,” she continued.
