Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced Wednesday the launch of a pro-abortion advocacy group called Think Big America. The group, which is funded by billionaire Pritzker, “the richest elected politician in the United States,” will focus mainly on promoting state constitutional amendments in support of abortion — the abortion industry’s post-Roe strategy.
According to Politico, Think Big America will operate as a 501(c)(4) issue-advocacy organization. It is already supporting ballot measures in Ohio, Nevada, and Arizona that would codify abortion as a state constitutional right.
“My commitment to protecting and expanding reproductive rights has been lifelong,” Pritzker said in a statement. “Think Big America is dedicated to ensuring the fundamental right of reproductive choice for individuals everywhere — regardless of their state of residence, religion, race, or socioeconomic status.”
One of the group’s biggest focuses at the moment is Ohio Issue 1, a ballot measure that could enshrine the right to abortion in the state constitution, stripping parental rights in the process. The vote is scheduled for November 7.
“Obviously the folks in Ohio know best how to get votes out to support that referendum,” Pritzker said. “We’re supporting them in that endeavor, whether it’s working with them on GOTV [get-out-the-vote] where they say we ought to do it, or sometimes it’s helping pay for a poll to determine if one message or another message is better. Or sometimes it’s helping them pay for an ad, whether it’s on a billboard or on TV.”
As governor of Illinois, Pritzker has made his commitment to abortion well-known, securing the state’s place as one of the most solidly pro-abortion in the nation. In the past, he has supported legislation that allows out-of-state medical professionals to commit abortions while shielding abortionists from legal liability, requires insurance coverage for the abortion pill, allows for free abortions for prisoners, repeals parental notification laws, and requires taxpayer funding of abortion. More recently, he signed legislation aimed at silencing the pregnancy resource centers that provide much-needed help and support to pregnant moms and young families.
“Over the last few years the far right agenda has only become more extreme [including] the end of reproductive rights,” Pritzker said in a Think Big America video ad. “Extremism poses an existential threat to our democracy.”
The idea that protecting the preborn from the threat of homicide in the womb is now considered “extreme” is a sad reflection on society. What is extreme is promoting laws and pushing for reforms that would allow these children to be brutally killed through all nine months of pregnancy.
