‘We never tell’: Planned Parenthood helping minors travel ‘every day’ for abortions

Planned Parenthood has allegedly been caught on camera showing its willingness to assist a 13-year-old minor in crossing state lines to undergo an abortion without parental knowledge or consent, a term dubbed by some as abortion trafficking. The investigation took place in Missouri, where the state law says 13-year-olds can never consent to sex or abortions.

A recently released, five-minute undercover video (part one of a two-part investigation) by Project Veritas (PV) shows a conversation between a woman identified as Lashauna — said to be the Managing Director of Planned Parenthood in Kansas City, Missouri — and a male PV investigator (who is off-screen). The male investigator is inquiring about obtaining an abortion for a 13-year-old girl. The full footage had not yet been released at the time of this article’s publication.

The video highlights the ease with which the abortion industry partakes in potentially breaking the law and trafficking girls for abortions. Lashauna said parents are never informed of the abortions because Planned Parenthood considers a thirteen-year-old to be an “adult.” However, state law does not.

Missouri law states that those 13 years old and younger cannot consent to sex with anyone, and those ages 14, 15, and 16 years old cannot consent to sex with someone who is more than four years older. In addition, Missouri law states that no minor may consent to an abortion. Planned Parenthood is required to report the sexual abuse of this 13-year-old girl. In Kansas, where Planned Parenthood was going to send the girl for an abortion, the age of consent is 16 and parental consent is required for a minor to undergo an abortion.

Perhaps the most dangerous revelation was the way Planned Parenthood appeared to promote the abortion trafficking of children with the help of strangers or male companions, potentially aiding child sexual abusers.

Crossing state lines

The undercover footage begins with the male PV investigator explaining to the Planned Parenthood staffers that the child’s parents are unaware that she is pregnant or that she is seeking an abortion.

The 13-year-old does not appear to be present at the facility with the male investigator, still, Planned Parenthood staffers seem willing to assist the man in taking her across state lines for an abortion because, as Lashauna explains it, abortion is “illegal” in Missouri.

She then offers to give the male investigator “a packet of the two locations that do [abortions] in Kansas.”

Call first to obtain a bypass

“If you’re trying to do it without the parents knowing, then you need to call because they need a bypass,” Planned Parenthood receptionist Priscilla Jones tells the male PV investigator. This is because Kansas requires parental consent for abortions on minors. A judicial bypass is when a minor is permitted by a judge to have a secret abortion — a legal loophole promoted by Planned Parenthood.

“What is a bypass?” the investigator asks.

“Just not letting the parents know,” Lashauna says in response.

The investigator then asks, “So, I can bring her?” meaning the 13-year-old child across state lines.

“Yeah,” the Planned Parenthood staffer tells him.

“You just have to — when you call —  Just tell them the situation, they’ll walk you through everything,” she adds.

“So, if I can’t do it, is there a service that can get her across a state line?” the PV investigator asks.

“Yeah. Yup,” Lashauna states. “…They have people that’ll come pick them up.”

This is abortion trafficking.

Doctor’s note to sneak children out of school

The footage reveals additional deception — using a “doctor’s note” to cover for a teen being taken out of state without parental permission.

“Could we get permission from a teacher to get her out of school during a school day?” the PV investigator asks.

“We could give a doctor’s excuse,” the Lashauna tells the male investigator.

“What’s that?” he asks.

“We could give the doctor’s note to where the school, it doesn’t matter if the school agrees or not, we say that she was at the doctor, they have to take it,” Lashauna says, assuring the PV investigator that no parents will be told because “we can cut off our letterhead so it doesn’t even say where she was.”

“Trust me this is not their first rodeo. They’re going to know exactly how to handle that,” the Planned Parenthood director claims.

The PV investigator then asks about the abortion trafficking of minors again, “Thirteen-year-olds can go across state lines?” he asks.

“Absolutely,” Lashauna states.

When asked whether Planned Parenthood would pay for everything, Lashauna explains that the organization would “work with you” and that “sometimes” Planned Parenthood will pay for the whole thing.

Asked by the PV investigator how many times this specific Planned Parenthood location helps girls travel between states for abortions in a year, Lashauna claims, “Oh. Every day. Every day.”

She adds, “We can set up hotels for them. We set up every day. Every day.”

“In Planned Parenthood we consider you [a 13-year-old child] an adult…You can make the decision, then we got you,” Lashauna states. “We never tell the parents anything, she’s an adult in our clinics.” This is in defiance of state law, which says a 13-year-old cannot consent to sex or abortion.

Aiding abusers

Planned Parenthood has a history of aiding child sexual abusers in securing abortions for their victims. As Live Action’s 2018 Aiding Abusers investigation found, children as young as 12 have been given abortions at Planned Parenthood and then returned to their abuser.

Though Planned Parenthood is required by law to report suspected child sexual abuse, the abortion giant has repeatedly aided the abuser. One case involved a 15-year-old girl who was raped by an 18-year-old man. When she and her mother told Planned Parenthood about the rape, the Planned Parenthood counselor told them “it wasn’t worth the hassle” to report it. Her rapist was eventually charged with the sexual assaults of 11 girls ages 12 to 17.

“Jane Roe” was 13 years old when her soccer coach, John Haller, began sexually assaulting her. When Jane was 14, she became pregnant and Haller took her to Planned Parenthood for an abortion, pretending to be her stepbrother. Planned Parenthood did not verify the information and after the abortion, Jane continued to be abused by Haller.

PV’s new video exposes that Planned Parenthood is willing to transport a 13-year-old girl across state lines for an abortion at the request of a man who has admitted he is not the girl’s father. Missouri law states that those 13 years old and younger cannot consent to sex with anyone and that no minor may consent to abortion. Planned Parenthood is required to report the sexual abuse of this 13-year-old girl. In Kansas, where Planned Parenthood was going to send the girl for an abortion, the age of consent is 16 and parental consent is required for a minor to undergo an abortion — which is why Planned Parenthood suggests getting a judicial bypass.

The growing problem of abortion trafficking

Earlier this year, Idaho became the first state to pass a law making abortion trafficking of minors a crime.

“And under the new law here in Idaho, any adult who helps a teenager leave Idaho to terminate a pregnancy will face two to five years in prison. That includes an aunt, a sister, or a brother, or grandmother, and even in cases when the teenage girl has been sexually assaulted,” claimed KFF Health News correspondent Sarah Varney on PBS Newshour.

In the PBS News Hour video above, Karl Eastlund, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho (PPGWNI), admitted that teens who are sexually abused often come to Planned Parenthood, and some travel from out of state.

In August of 2023, Live Action News documented the abortion trafficking of teens by Big Abortion and their radical supporters, including the funding of teen abortions by the abortion group Jane’s Due Process.

In June of 2022, Bonyen Lee-Gilmore, the vice president of strategy and communications for Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri told Business Insider, “We are absorbing 100% of the costs of travel [and] lodging. We’re connecting patients with abortion funds from all 50 states depending on what they need and who they qualify with. We help them kind of piece together all the pieces that are required to get abortion care now in this country.”

“We won’t be deterred from doing the work,” she added.

Planned Parenthood recently opened a regional logistics center in Illinois, close to the Missouri border, revealing Planned Parenthood’s willingness to assist anyone traveling for an abortion with “transportation, lodging, or financial assistance.”

The predatory business of abortion trafficking has also come to the attention of lawmakers across Texas and New Mexico.

According to Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn founder Mark Lee Dickson, five Texas counties have outlawed abortion trafficking, with the city of Odessa becoming the “largest city to have passed an abortion trafficking prohibition…while the largest county to have passed an abortion trafficking provision is Lubbock County in October 2023.”
