Megan Thee Stallion is set to be honored by Planned Parenthood of Greater New York as an “extraordinary advocate” of the abortion giant’s work. The abortion corporation said it chose Megan because her “music and performances have shined a light on women’s empowerment, mental health and social justice” — but the decision to award Megan the Planned Parenthood’s Catalyst for Change Award has received criticism.
In a statement, Planned Parenthood said, “An outspoken advocate for women’s rights and Planned Parenthood, Megan has used her global platform to draw attention to the organization’s mission and work. She also launched The Pete and Thomas Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on uplifting and assisting women, children, senior citizens, and underserved communities in Houston, Texas and across the world.” But if Megan wants to ‘uplift’ women and children, advocating for women to kill their preborn children is not the way to achieve that.
“Planned Parenthood has a well documented history rooted in eugenics philosophy, population control, and the targeting of Black communities,” Christina Bennett, news correspondent for Live Action, told Live Action News. “Black women account for 40% of all abortions and the majority take place among young women in their 20s. It’s tragic to see an artist use their influence to partner with an organization which has brought destruction and death to the Black community. I pray young women won’t be swayed by this partnership and believe the lie that Planned Parenthood is an organization worth trusting.”

History of abortion support
Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade in June 2022, Megan released a T-shirt that said “Ladies Love Yourself” with proceeds benefiting Planned Parenthood. In addition to her support for Planned Parenthood, Megan spoke out against Texas’ pro-life SB 8 law, which protected most preborn babies from abortion. Shortly after the law took effect, Megan took to Instagram, saying, “Y’all know I’m a Texas girl and we deserve better! Politicians want to cut off abortion access and control our bodies, lives, and futures — I’m speaking up. … #BansOffOurBodies.”
In 2022, she took aim at Texas again, saying that the state’s law protecting preborn children following the overturning of Roe was enacted by “stupid ass men.”
“Y’all know it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t take a second to call out these stupid ass men,” she said during her Glastonbury Festival performance. “I mean g****mn. What else do you want? Texas really embarassing me now y’all, that’s my home state.”
She added, “I want to have it on the record that the motherf***ing hot girls and hot boys do not support this bull**** that y’all are campaigning for. My body, my mothaf***ing choice.”
Pushing abortion
But beyond all of her comments in support of abortion, there is controversy surrounding Megan’s alleged attempt to encourage Nicki Minaj to have an abortion. It’s because of this that some of Minaj’s fans reacted negatively to Planned Parenthood’s announcement of Megan’s award.
In 2022, Minaj alleged that an unnamed person told her to have an abortion after she declined their offer for an alcoholic drink during a time when she was trying to become pregnant. “Imagine telling someone you didn’t want a drink… you know, because you were, at the time, possibly pregnant, because you were actively trying to have a baby,” said Minaj at the time. “Imagine that person saying, ‘Oh girl, you can go to the clinic!’”
After Planned Parenthood announced Megan’s upcoming award, fans of Minaj, known as the Barbz, commented, “That’s wild… How you tell someone to get rid of the baby so they can drink [cocktail emoji] lol… this world playing in our face REAL BAD.”
Another wrote, “This [award] is actually very on brand considering she tells her friends to abort their kids.”
One commented, “She told Nicki to terminate her pregnancy so this fits,” and another said, “She promoting ABORTIONS lmao.”
Given Minaj’s own abortion at age 16 that she said “haunted me all my life,” other fans found Megan’s alleged comments to be cruel and insensitive. Megan has denied telling Minaj to have an abortion.
Celebrity news site The Neighborhood Talk appeared to celebrate the news of Megan’s award on Instagram, saying, “Neighbors, congrats are in order for Megan,” and asking its followers for their thoughts. Several replied with shock. One said, “They couldn’t find some nurses or doctors? A rapper? America is not serious.”
Others wrote, “Advocate of getting rid of babies oh my… I don’t think I’d want that under my belt,” and “awarded for promoting abortions is crazy.”
Another pointed to Planned Parenthood’s blatant racism, saying, “People remember planned parenthood was started by Margaret Sanger. They promote exterminating black babies. Abortions are killing the African American community.”
Pro-life advocate Toni McFadden also commented, “Who is going to tell Megan that Abortion=Black Genocide?”
Other women took issue with Planned Parenthood calling Megan’s music ’empowering,’ saying, “Yall need to go look up the woman who started planned parenthood and what she’s actually connected to. Trust me this is not ‘Empowering’ and definitely not in suppot of our ppl.”
A second said, “I like Megan but guys what about her music is empowering?”
Another gave a nod to the controversy with Minaj, saying, “What is [Megan] going to do [with the award]? Pass aroud shots of Henny to pregnant women?”
The negative comments continued, with people noting the “eugenic” and racist behaviors of Planned Parenthood and arguing that by supporting the abortion corporation, Megan is supporting the targeting of Black babies for murder.
The Spring Into Action Gala honoring Megan Thee Stallion will be held April 16 in New York City.
