An Italian pro-life organization has been attacked for the third time in less than a year; in three years, the organization has been the target of 13 attacks.
ACI Prensa reported that Pro Vita & Famiglia (Pro-Life and Family) was vandalized on June 6, 2024. Jacopo Coghe, a spokesman for the organization, explained what happened on Twitter/X.
“This afternoon a self-styled feminist ‘artist’ showed up in front of the national headquarters of [Pro Vita & Famiglia] in Rome with other people (including an Alanews/Ansa cameraman who was evidently pre-alerted), spreading glue on a window of our office and putting up a pro-abortion poster she created herself,” he wrote. “Among those present was also an unknown candidate for the European Elections for the Greens and Left Alliance, evidently in a desperate search for visibility. We immediately went out into the street, removing the poster and warning the woman and others present from continuing to deface the premises, inviting them to keep their distance while the police were called. The woman started hysterically ranting with the usual ideological pro-abortion slogans and protesting because, according to her, we were violating her ‘freedom of expression’ and ‘censoring’ her ‘art.’ Surreal.”

When public security officers were called, the woman quickly left. “This is the thirteenth act of vandalism against the Pro Vita & Famiglia headquarters in less than 3 years, the third in just over a month (we will also report this),” he concluded.

In November, the organization was attacked with a Molotov cocktail during a rally for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Two hundred people broke off against the march, and in addition to the Molotov cocktail, the building was graffitied. Even though law enforcement was present, pro-abortion protesters threw bottles, stones, and smoke grenades, knocked down cameras, and tried to set the building on fire.
The organization likewise came under attack during an LGBT demonstration, where protesters threw eggs and graffitied the building. Each time, the group has vowed to continue its pro-life work.

“If they think they can intimidate us with their brutal violence, they are wrong,” the group said in November. “We will continue to work with our heads held high to promote the value of life, family and the sacred freedom of education.”
