The notorious CARE Clinic in Bellevue, Nebraska, formerly operated by late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart until his death at 81 last year, is suspected of illegal activity.
It was previously reported that Tyrone Malloy would be seeing patients at the facility, despite having lost his medical license for fraud. Malloy has a checkered past; in addition to serving four years in prison and six years probation for Medicaid fraud, he has also been the subject of numerous malpractice complaints. One was related to the 1999 death of a newborn baby after a C-section, and the 2008 death of a 23-year-old woman. In the latter case, Malloy reportedly perforated her uterus and intestines while committing a 25-week dilation and evacuation (D&E) c-section.
Malloy is not registered to practice medicine in Nebraska, and an anonymous whistleblower reported this to the state of Nebraska. Janine Weatherby, Carhart’s daughter, gave an interview saying that Malloy took over from her father as medical director, despite not being licensed in Nebraska.
This has caused state investigations to take place, and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) wrote in an e-mail this week that Malloy “failed to respond to a request for additional documents to complete his application within 150 days and his application was closed.”

Operation Rescue further reported that investigations this summer found numerous problems with the facility, including not requiring background checks for their employees, and allowing drugs to be dispensed by a physician who did not hold a dispensing license.
“The list of violations are too many to count for this so-called clinic,” Operation Rescue President Troy Newman said. “Just like LeRoy Carhart never learned his lessons, neither do his successors. His daughter follows in his footsteps, caring nothing about women and obviously believing she is above any regulations put in place by the state to protect patients from dangerous, back-alley businesses posing as medical facilities.”
The Carhart facility has a long history of issues and dangerous practices; complaints against Carhart were consistently filed throughout his career. Accusations against Carhart included things like altering patient charts, talking on the phone while committing abortions, falling asleep while injecting a patient with lidocaine, and even leaving the facility in the middle of an abortion procedure to go outside and throw rocks at the window. He was also accused of committing an abortion on a patient who had active tuberculosis, and not allowing his staff to wear masks during the procedure. He was also accused of lying about gestational age to circumvent laws regarding late-term abortions, and allegedly kept his facility in unsafe condition, with dried blood on surgical instruments, missing narcotics, illegal drug use by employees, and illegal abortions. He was also accused of illegally disposing of biohazardous waste, along with private patient medical information and even drugs.
Carhart’s daughter may be in charge now, but for the moment, it seems that little has changed.
