‘Stomach-churning emails’ reveal more Planned Parenthood negotiations over aborted body parts

Planned Parenthood, lawsuit, buffer zone, san diego

In an exclusive article, The New York Post has revealed “stomach-churning emails” that show Planned Parenthood negotiating its terms regarding its medical research ‘donations’ of the bodies of babies it aborted, including the babies it planned to dismember while they were still alive.

The emails between Planned Parenthood San Diego (PPSD) and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) were supplied to The Post by pro-life activist David Daleiden, founder and president of the Center for Medical Progress (CMP). The information obtained includes a “Research Plan” submitted to the UCSD Institutional Review Board. Daleiden told the Post:

These documents show that Planned Parenthood is supplying healthy babies who are old enough to survive outside the womb from late term abortions to the University of California’s royalty-generating experiments.

After months of pro-abortion forces and media gaslighting the public about whether late term abortions on healthy babies and healthy mothers actually happen — to see it spelled out this explicitly in the records of a government-funded body is truly shocking [and] also extremely clarifying for the conversation on abortion our country is currently having.

At a Glance:

  • The Research Plan exposed that PPSD planned to abort up to 2,500 viable babies as old as six months
  • PPSD planned to verify the presence of “heart activity” before beginning to dismember the babies alive
  • In some cases, viable babies may have been delivered intact, partially intact, and potentially alive as their hearts were then harvested

Dismemberment abortions on preborn babies as old as six months

The PPSD Research Plan was approved in 2018 and states that PPSD planned to abort up to 2,500 “viable nonanomalous” babies “ranging from 4 to 23 weeks [6 months] gestational age.” It also notes that PPSD agreed to provide UCSD with “evidence of fetal heart activity by ultrasound immediately prior to the dilation and evacuation procedure.”

This means the babies — including those old enough to survive — would have been potentially alive as they were dismembered. Premature babies as young as 21 weeks have survived, thanks to advancements in medical care.

A dilation and evacuation procedure —or D&E — is a procedure in which the abortionist uses a Sopher clamp to tear the arms and legs off of the baby’s torso. While some abortionists kill the babies prior to dismemberment through an injection of digoxin or a feticide to cause cardiac arrest, PPSD stated that it planned to dismember the babies alive before harvesting their organs and donating their body parts to UCSD. (A feticide tends to contaminate fetal tissues, making them less useful to procurement agencies and researchers, as Daleiden has previously noted.)

Babies were potentially delivered intact and alive for harvesting

Emails between the two organizations from that same year discuss the time of day that the aborted babies would be available for harvesting of body parts.

One email stated, “[A]ny sample greater than about 12.5w[eeks] requires the use of a dilating medication which is given to the patients 3 hours ahead of their procedures (these are called ‘cyto’ patients). These cases usually do not conclude until about [redacted]. It is possible to get a patient who is 11w-12.5w earlier in the day, but as you know there is no way to be certain of their [gestational age] until they arrive for their appointment and receive a sonogram.”

CMP reporter Elise Ketch explained, “‘Cyto’ is short for cytotec, also called misoprostol, which is used in chemical abortions [abortion pill] to force start labor contractions to deliver the baby.” Misoprostol is also used in miscarriage care and to induce labor in later baby deliveries.

Daleiden noted that in at least one study, just a 50 microgram dose of misoprostol was enough to induce labor in a women who had reached “term.” Planned Parenthood’s standard dosage is 400-800 micrograms of misoprostol. This could mean, concluded Daleiden and Ketch, that the PPSD abortions included in the Research Plan aren’t always typical dismemberment abortions, but could include intact partial-birth abortions (PBA) — which are federally illegal — or delivery of a live baby.

Planned Parenthood staff have admitted in the past to strategically attempting to avoid legal issues through this abortion method, saying “I might pull off a leg or two, so it’s not PBA.”

In 2020, Perrin Larton, Procurement Manager for Planned Parenthood’s partner Advanced Bioscience Resources, Inc., admitted under oath that some babies had been born alive with their hearts still beating as their organs were harvested. Abortionist Dr. Forrest Smith even testified that babies are “no question” born alive only to then have their organs harvested.

The request for fetal hearts

Another email detailed that, though a UCSD study required the use of 12 fetal heart samples, UCSD had already been given 27 and was still seeking more. Still another email shared with The Post showed a request from UCSD to PPSD seeking fetal hearts of a certain age.

“[T]rying to [redacted] fetal heart samples, so we are collecting all the samples we can get for now [redacted] …,” said the email. “This study is more stage dependent than quantity dependent, so for that we would need more stages at 9 weeks (or less) and 15 weeks (or more).”

Potential racism at PPSD?

In addition, the consent form that women seeking abortions at PPSD received regarding allowing their babies to be used for research states that the “donated blood, tissue, or their derivatives may have significant therapeutic or commercial value (emphasis added).”

But the bullet point mentioning the word “commercial” is mysteriously left off of the consent document given to Spanish-speaking women.

“I don’t understand why Planned Parenthood…. and UCSD felt that Spanish speaking mothers did not deserve to know that the body parts of their aborted children would be ‘commercialized’ while English speaking mothers did deserve to have this fact disclosed to them,” Daleiden told The Post. “The only explanation I can think why this discrepancy persisted for at least four years is blatant institutional racism.”

Planned Parenthood retained the rights to any patents developed from fetal body part research

The babies’ body parts were taken to Perionatal Repository at UCSD to be used for research that had the potential to earn money for PPSD.

In March, CMP released a “Biological Material Transfer Agreement” between PPSD and UCSD, which discussed “fetal and placental tissue” as “proprietary materials of PPSD.” The “Biological Material Transfer Agreement” stated that the two groups agree that PPSD will “retain all right, title and interest in and to the Material, including but not limited to all right, title and interest in patents and patent applications and other intellectual property rights relating to the Material, Unless otherwise expressly provided in writing by PPSD, no right or interest in or to the Material is granted or implied under this Agreement, Nothing in this Agreement grants Recipient the right to retain, distribute or commercialize any Material.”

The “Material” being discussed  is the human body parts of murdered preborn children, potentially old enough to have survived outside the womb.

Following the release of that “Biological Material Transfer Agreement,” Sen. Marco Rubio requested a federal investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Undercover videos exposed Planned Parenthood’s body parts trafficking scandal nearly a decade ago

After CMP exposed the horrific and criminal acts, then-Attorney General of California Kamala Harris ordered a raid on Daleiden’s home, telling agents to seize evidence from the undercover investigation, including laptops and hard drives full of undercover footage. He has been under investigation by the California State Attorney General’s office ever since, even as Harris moved on to the U.S. Senate and then the Vice Presidency of the United States.

In 2019 during sworn deposition testimony, Planned Parenthood officials admitted that the statements captured by CMP were accurate, and had been “spoken by those persons.” Yet Planned Parenthood still claimed, just months later, that Daleiden and CMP released the videos “to manufacture a fake smear campaign against Planned Parenthood.”

According to The Post, Daleiden still faces eight felony charges and potential jail time in regard to those undercover videos and for “manufacturing” a fake driver’s license in order to enter Planned Parenthood offices. A trial date is currently scheduled for December in San Francisco Superior Court. Daleiden and his CMP partner Sandra Merritt have both pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
