Looking for a pro-life OBGYN? Search AAPLOG’s new online directory!

As a woman in her early thirties, I understand the importance of having yearly visits to an OBGYN. As a pro-lifer, I know how frustrating it is to talk to an OBGYN who has opposing beliefs. I’m not concerned if my dentist, chiropractor or eye doctor doesn’t share my pro-life values. It would be wonderful if they did but it likely won’t ruin my visit if they don’t. OBGYN’s are different.

In my personal experience I had an OBYGN accuse me of being foolish for refusing to treat menstrual cramps with birth control. She also told me birth control would be a beneficial way for me to prevent cancer. I’ve heard women complain about OBGYN’s suggesting unnecessary hysterectomy’s and even offering to sterilize them. One friend who was asked if she’d like to be sterilized, was married, in her early twenties, with one child.

These are some of the reasons that make me grateful for the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists. AAPLOG is the largest organization of pro-life obstetricians and gynecologists in the world. Their purpose is to reaffirm the unique value and dignity of individual human life in all stages of growth and development. AAPLOG has over 2,500 members and associates who are board certified, professional, pro-life physicians, residents, medical students and international colleagues. This is a dream come true for countless women.

On the front page of their website in big letters are the words,’Life…it’s why we’re here’…and ‘You care about your baby…and so do we.’ In their mission statement AAPLOG states the unborn child is a human being from the time of fertilization. They believe that elective disruption/abortion of human life at any time from fertilization onward constitutes the willful destruction of an innocent human being.

In order to be a member of this group OBGYN’s must commit to not allowing that procedure to have any place in their practice of the healing arts. In addition AAPLOG members agree to educating abortion vulnerable patients, the general public, pregnancy center counselors, and their medical colleagues about the medical and psychological complications associated with induced abortion. They do this because they’re deeply concerned about the profound, adverse effects that elective abortion imposes on women, their families and the whole of society.

In a short, inspiring video AAPLOG members share about their work. The video even shows AAPLOG’s leader testifying in court to the dangers of the abortion pill. Along with the video their website has great articles on topics like ectopic pregnancies and abortion. The site answers statements pro-choicer’s give in articles like, ‘Is abortion safer than child birth?” From medical articles to political stories regarding abortion, AAPLOG’s website is full of valuable information.

In my opinion the best part of the site is the physican directory. This was the first thing I did when I visited the site. You can search by zip code or by state for a pro-life OBGYN. I found one in my state and I plan to schedule an appointment. To my great delight, the pro-life OBGYN I found also started an organization that reaches out to low income individuals by providing free care in a mobile medical van. My heart soars just thinking about receiving care from an OBGYN with a compassionate heart for the poor and a value for the sanctity of life.

If you’re looking for a Pro-Life OBGYN, look no further. If you are a pro-life OBGYN or know someone who is, contact AAPLOG and become a member. If you’re interested in finding out more about this great organization, subscribe to their mailing list.

As an engaged women, whose looking forward to marriage and family, I’m encouraged this organization exists. It’s a beacon of light in a world that’s often hostile to pro-life values.
