5 inspiring songs for pro-life activists

Let’s be honest…sometimes it’s hard to keep in this battle, day after day after day. There are moments when we might question why in the world we’ve taken the burden of saving lives on our shoulders.

A few things keep me going – my ever-encouraging husband, looking into the eyes of my own children, confidence that I’ve been called by the God I serve, and music. Yep, music.

When I’m alone in the car, I love to turn up my radio all the way, and let the music blast. Here are five songs I hope inspire you to keep on fighting, until every, single life – from fertilization to natural death – is valued as it should be.

If you have a special “pro-life anthem” of your own, share it with us all in the comments.

1. More Than You Think I Am by Danny Gokey

This isn’t the first time Gokey’s songs have inspired pro-life perseverance. Check out his compelling personal story and the hit song “Hope in Front of Me” here.

“More Than You Think I Am” reminds me that, no matter how deep and how dark the battle, I am not alone. It also helps me remember that the God I serve is a God of justice and a God of compassion – both qualities necessary for us to display in the pro-life world.

You always think I’m somewhere on a mountain top

But never think behind bars

You’d be amazed at places that I’d go to be with you

Where you are

2. God of This City by Bluetree

This song touched me at a time when a big pro-life job I had undertaken had failed. It was not the end. And no failure – however big or small – has the final word.

Greater things have yet to come

And greater things are still to be done in this city

Greater things have yet to come

And greater things are still to be done in this city

3. Mighty to Save by Hillsong

As a Christian who feels called to the pro-life battleground, this song is my personal anthem. I cry nearly every time I hear it – and I don’t cry that much.

Savior

He can move the mountains

My God is mighty to save

He is mighty to save

Forever

Author of salvation

He rose and conquered the grave

Jesus conquered the grave

4. The Blessing by John Waller

Back in 2008, John Waller allowed my Personhood campaign to use this song as the background music for a video we showed in churches around Colorado. His song reminds me that working for life is an active choice we must make, and that this choice is always a personal blessing to us as well as to those we seek to serve.

Let it be said of us

That we spoke the words of life

Let it be said of us

That our heritage is blessing for life

5. Another One Bites the Dust by Queen

Ok, one of these is not like the others. I don’t find the entire song inspiring at all, but the chorus is another story. Seriously – as one LAN commenter has pointed out more than once – it’s simply perfect when abortion clinics close.

Alright, fellow pro-lifers, keep your heads up and stay inspired! I’d love to hear your personal pro-life anthems below.
