In the midst of the troubling videos of slaughtered babies came another troubling revelation that must be changed: President Obama’s press secretary indicated that the White House is getting talking points on the Planned Parenthood scandal from Planned Parenthood itself – and the administration has apparently not even watched the videos.
As the leader of our nation (as well as a man with a law degree), President Obama should be reviewing each video in its unedited entirety before making a single comment supporting a side. His parroting of Planned Parenthood serves as a model of a kangaroo court, where the judge personally knows the murderer of a child and decides to dismiss the case without hearing either the prosecuting attorney’s arguments or the witnesses.
This is twisted justice, but similar to what the White House has shown itself to be doing.
While Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards and President Obama have made no secret of their friendship, when accusations of federal laws being broken have substantiating evidence worth examining, friendship and loyalty must take a back seat to the justice each American is promised by being a citizen of this great nation.
Laying aside political and moral differences, whether abortion should be a choice, and whether fetal tissue research is acceptable, the indication that federal laws may have been broken should behoove the White House to investigate the situation fully.
Instead, the American people heard President Obama’s press secretary say the president was getting his talking points from Planned Parenthood and he assumes, but he’s not sure, someone at the White House has maybe watched the videos.
Maybe is not good enough for the leaders of this nation. The people who elected President Obama to office have a right to expect him to examine all issues of broken laws and human rights violations, no matter his friendships and financial support.
President Obama has a conflict of interest in this process. This is especially problematic because all indications are that he will veto any bill that defunds Planned Parenthood, but without examining the full videos and supporting evidence, this is an abuse of his executive power.
It is a tragedy to think of babies being slaughtered methodically just to gain parts to chop up in a lab, but it is also tragic to think that the leaders of our nation enjoy their personal and financial relationship with the accused so much that they cover their eyes to hide from the glaring spotlight.
By proxy, Cecile Richards has become the president of the United States in matters related to abortion. It is the responsibility of the president and his staff to review all of the evidence before making further comment or issuing a veto on bills related to this issue.
