Abortion providers reveal contempt for their patients

On October 7, I wrote about abortionists who treated their patients badly. I quoted clinic workers describing how the abortionists they worked with mocked, ignored, or berated their patients. Here, I’d like to present direct quotes from abortion providers talking about the women who come in for abortions.

Michelle (last name withheld), owner and director of two abortion clinics, was quoted in the 2009 book Abortion, Execution, and the Consequences of Taking Life:

Most of them [abortion patients] don’t think [they] can take care of a child or another child or not mentally able at this time to take care of a child. Some are not the brightest light bulb. They’re really kind of “blank.”

Characterizing her patients as stupid, this clinic owner shows extreme condescension towards them.

The next comments were made by Planned Parenthood workers, and they are taken directly from Planned Parenthood paperwork. Pro-life activist Robert Ruff wrote a book analyzing several boxes of Planned Parenthood records that were thrown in a dumpster outside a Planned Parenthood clinic. He and his fellow pro-lifers found them while searching for the bodies of aborted babies in the garbage.

While carefully reading through the documents, Ruff found evidence of Medicaid fraud, substandard medical care, and negative attitudes of clinic staff towards patients. It is also illegal to dispose of sensitive records identifying abortion patients in the trash.

Individual notes on abortion patients were found in the paperwork. Here are two notes made by clinic workers about two different patients:

Acted twelve years old. Not very responsible for a seventeen year old. May be a repeater with a birth control attitude. … Very immature.

….

Very bad patient. Wouldn’t relax at all. Kept pulling back on the table. She was ten or twelve weeks and didn’t have much pain but worked herself into a frenzy. Possible repeater.

The clinic workers show contempt for women who are “repeaters”” i.e., women who come in for multiple abortions. Negative comments about  women who have repeated abortions and don’t use birth-control are made many times in the Planned Parenthood records. One wonders why, if abortion is just the removal of tissue, it would matter to clinic workers that a woman has more than one.

In the second quote, the clinic worker shows a lack of sympathy and indifference towards a patient’s pain. She concludes that the woman is not in pain and is simply making a fuss. It’s impossible to know how much pain another person feels, and one wonders if the negative attitude this clinic worker had towards her patient resulted in poor patient care.

This next  quote comes from an abortionist. The abortionist called in to a radio show about abortion and made the following statement:

The first time, I felt like a murderer, but I did it again and again and again, and now, 20 years later, I am facing what happened to me as a doctor and as a human being. Sure, I got hard. Sure, the money was important. And oh, it was an easy thing, once I had taken the step, to see the women as animals and the babies as just tissue.

Clearly, this doctor hardened his conscience to the point where he cared neither about the baby nor the woman. His frank admission that the women were “animals” to him shows the dehumanization inherent in the abortion business.

Abortionist Dr. Brian Finkel was quoted in an article in the Phoenix New Times:

Back in the good old days, honey, I could open a woman in less than a minute and a half. It was while I was working on the abortion floor that I learned that women will do whatever it takes to have an abortion.

In 2003, Finkel was convicted of sexually abusing patients in his office. He was convicted of 24 counts of sexual abuse, and 60 women came forward to say that he molested them during their abortions.
