A Catholic Church has been defaced with pro-abortion and anti-Catholic vandalism in Ontario, Canada.
Sometime between last Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the town of Welland was subjected to both an anti-Catholic obscenity spray-painted on the garage door of the rectory and the phrase “happy abortions” on the side of the church hall. The educational association Welland Port Colborne Pro-Life has an office there.
“This was one of the worst nights we ever had,” Father Raymond French Gonzi said. “I just don’t understand how somebody could come out just for that.”
Neither he nor WPCPL volunteer community liaison Muriel Dyson could recall experiences with past cases of vandalism. Dyson says the only similar incident she could recall was a small group of pro-abortion girls screaming at area pro-life activists two years ago.
“We encourage people to try to live and let live,” French Gonzi said, lamenting that the attitude “doesn’t seem to exist anymore.”
