Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin has asked the state’s healthcare authority to consider terminating its contracts with Planned Parenthood, citing significant overbilling practices at two of the six Planned Parenthood facilities located in Oklahoma.
Fox25 reports:
Gov. Fallin’s office says the state paid the two affiliates $100,145 for 19,546 claims in 2015 and $204,631 for 36,741 claims in 2014. A review of the affiliates earlier in the year showed no improper use of state Medicaid funds but showed a billing error rate of 20.3% at one and a 14.2% error rate at the other.
“These results are alarming,” Gov. Fallin said in a letter to [OHCA Chief Executive Officer Nico] Gomez. “These errors result in over billing to the Oklahoma taxpayer. The lack of attention to the requirements imposed on a responsible provider is a continuing problem for these Planned Parenthood affiliates.”
