As Live Action News reported, on Tuesday, a major health care provider in Kentucky cancelled a transfer agreement with Planned Parenthood. KentuckyOne Health, which operates hospitals across the state including the University of Louisville Hospital, previously had an agreement with Planned Parenthood involving the transfer of patients from the abortion facility when complications arise from abortion.
Abortion advocates charge KentuckyOne with caving to pressure, but distancing itself from Planned Parenthood may be the best option for KentuckyOne, which is not the first health care organization to cut ties with Planned Parenthood in the wake of the abortion giant’s recent scandal.
Planned Parenthood’s unethical behavior has resulted in several institutions backing away from the abortion group.
In September 2015, Missouri University Health Care cut ties with Planned Parenthood, revoking refer and follow privileges for the organization.
Health care organizations are not the only groups cutting ties with Planned Parenthood. In July 2015, several major companies – including Coca-Cola and Ford Motor Company – which had been listed as corporate donors to Planned Parenthood – denied having any ties to the abortion giant. Planned Parenthood’s corporate donor list was subsequently removed from its website.
In addition to hospitals, businesses, and other groups, state governments have been distancing themselves from Planned Parenthood. In February, Ohio became the tenth state to take action to eliminate public subsidies to the abortion giant.
KentuckyOne is not the first, nor will it be the last. Organizations of all kinds are realizing that ties with Planned Parenthood may be bad for business.
