Oklahoma Wesleyan University is launching a new program this July to train students in pro-life activism and pregnancy center management. The applied bioethics certificate program at Wesleyan is a partnership with Life Training Institute and Care Net.
The Certificate of Pro-Life Training program is geared to equip students to answer to pro-abortion arguments, both for daily discussions and public speaking. Students can earn that certificate and then advance to earn a Certificate of Ministry Essentials by studying non-profit organization, development, and management.
Instructors for the courses include Scott Klusendorf, president of Life Training Institute, and Dr. Marc Newman, founder and president of Speaker for Life. Klusendorf told The College Fix that a pilot program took place last summer in which 14 students ages 17 to 60 participated.
“Our goal is to train up powerful advocates for the unborn and center and clinic directors who can persuasively mount a case for the work, raise financial, volunteer, and prayer support, and be of service to area churches, civic groups, and schools,” Newman told The College Fix.
According to the program’s website, OKWU is looking at the possibility of expanding the certificate program into a bachelor’s degree program to further prepare students for pro-life work in political consulting or executive roles in pregnancy health centers and medical clinics.
