Abortionists give “compassionate care”? These sure didn’t.

Ilyse Hogue, president of abortion advocacy group NARAL Pro-Choice America, spoke at the Democratic convention last week, and she mentioned having an abortion earlier in life.

According to Hogue, it was “fortunate” an abortion facility was in her community. Well, not for her baby, of course. Still, Hogue claims to have received “compassionate care” from the abortion industry.

But for too many abuse victims, what they got was anything but.

Denise Fairbanks discovered that when her father took her to Planned Parenthood. In her lawsuit, Denise recounted how she explicitly told staff he’d raped her. Their response was to abort the evidence and send her back home with him. Planned Parenthood opted to settle rather than face a jury.

They settled with Timothy Smith’s victim too. She was 13 when Smith brought her to Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. While the state of Colorado warns health providers to be concerned when a child under 14 “becomes pregnant or contracts a venereal disease,” staff didn’t agree. One later admitted “being 13 and pregnant alone is not a red flag” there. The abortion they performed allowed Smith to keep the abuse hidden and ongoing.

Planned Parenthood wasn’t any more concerned about Edgar Ramirez’s 13 year-old daughter. While staff didn’t contact authorities, they did perform two abortions in six months.

Gary Cross’s 13 year-old victim wasn’t helped either. Neither were the victims of Luis Gonzalez-Jose, Andrew King, John Haller, Adam Gault, Grey David Woods, or Kevon Walker.

And those who experience cover-up abortions aren’t the only ones to suffer, something Dr. Benjamin Graber demonstrated. The abortion he did on a 10-year-old girl helped her father’s crimes go unnoticed for two years. During that time, he sexually assaulted four other children as well.

Ilyse Hogue says the abortion industry is “empowering women.” As you can see, it’s certainly empowered child sex predators. So have your tax dollars.

Every year, Planned Parenthood receives over half a billion in federal funding. Tell Congress that money should go to federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and community health centers (CHCs) instead. They offer accessible care without helping rapists.

There are a lot of ways we can be compassionate. Subsidizing predators isn’t one of them.
