The One Child Policy of China has caused an increase in human trafficking. It is estimated that at least 70,000 children are trafficked within China each year. Women are trafficked in from the surrounding counties to help the gender imbalance.
According to the latest Human Rights Report on China from the Department of State:
Kidnapping and buying and selling children for adoption increased over the past several years, particularly in poor rural areas. There were no reliable estimates of the number of children kidnapped; however, according to media reports, as many as 20,000 children were kidnapped every year for illegal adoption. Most children kidnapped internally were sold to couples unable to have children, particularly sons.
It is incomprehensible to think that people are actually buying and selling children. How depraved can the world get? Children are limited and then treated as commodity. Need a bride for your son? Oh, just buy one! Really, people?
Someone needs to stand and fight this!
All Girls Allowed is a young organization that is taking a unique approach to fighting the One Child Policy.
The mission of All Girls Allowed is “to restore life, value, and dignity to girls and mothers, and to reveal the injustice of China’s One-Child Policy.” How, you might ask, is such a noble goal to be accomplished?
There are four programs that All Girls Allowed uses to accomplish their mission:
Ending Gendercide – Educating families against female gendercide and providing monthly stipends that ease the burden of having a baby girl.
Educating Abandoned Girls – Providing scholarships for abandoned girls to receive primary, secondary and post-secondary education.
Rescuing Trafficked Children – Resourcing parents to find their kidnapped children through an online search database and search & rescue campaigns.
Defending Mothers – Providing legal defense to forced abortion victims as well as mothers who are in danger of forced abortion or forced sterilization.
All Girls Allowed has put together an online database to help parents find their sons and daughters. They have even gone to China to help with the search process. They helped Peng Quinglan find her family—after she had been separated from them for 22 years! Last year a three-year-old girl was reunited with her family with the assistance of All Girls Allowed.

Thanks to founder Chai Ling’s vision, women in China are receiving tangible help. Families are being reunited. Women are encouraged to keep their female babies.
