Firefighters in Chandler, Arizona, got together for a special photoshoot last week in celebration of their own ‘baby boom’ that included the births of 19 children to members of the Chandler Fire Department.

In total, the department welcomed six boys and 13 girls, who were born to members of the department in the past year. The babies now range in age from three weeks to 11 months, and one family welcomed twins.

“I think there’s just something in the water in Chandler,” joked new dad Jack Bernard.

Firefighter Penni Cyrus, who gave birth to son Kade last year, says she’s never seen a baby boom like it.

“Not this many in one year. It’s pretty amazing… bringing more firefighters into the world,” she told 12 News.

The new parents got together for a photo shoot to celebrate the new lives, with all but a few making it.

“This morning we had 16 families that showed up with their children, and what an experience it was,” said the Battalion Chief in an Instagram reel. “I think the result of it is going to be something that’s special that the kids, the parents, are going to cherish for the rest of their lives, really.”

Not every parent there was a first-timer. Donaldo Lopez told interviewers he and his wife welcomed baby girl Dorothy, their fifth child, last year. “This is my second rainbow baby, so… a big deal for me and my wife,” he said.

The pictures shared on social media show the color-coordinated infants, with the girls wearing matching red hair bows. Amazingly, all of the babies appeared to be in good spirits for their photo shoot.

“It’s incredible,” Bernard told 12 News. “I’m shocked that we had such a great turnout; you know it’s hard scheduling with people’s shifts and vacations and sick babies… so it was a great time.”

One firefighter interviewed in the Instagram reel shared that the department has about 250 members, which means that nearly 10 percent of them became parents last year.
